Dear all,

This might be of interest to some of you who are wondering if we are allowed to vote for the upcoming elections in UK. Two Singaporeans have enquired and have gotten the confirmation from the PMO that we are entitled to our votes here in the UK, without giving up the rights to vote back in Singapore.

Please see msges below for more information.

Dear Ms Huang,

Thank you for your email to Elections Department.  Your interpretation is correct.   A Singapore citizen will not be disqualified from voting in a Singapore election on the ground that he/she has voted in an election in the UK, if the right to vote in the UK is not reserved exclusively to citizens of the UK.

Should you require further clarifications, please feel free to contact me at goh_jing_xian@eld.gov.sg.

To all SUKA members who hold Singapore nationality:

A friend of mine has just received the following email message from Singapore:

Dear Mr xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx,

I refer to your previous enquiry on
the above subject.

We have now reviewed the matter. A Singapore citizen will not be disqualified from voting in a Singapore election on
the ground that he/she has voted in an election in the UK, if the right to vote in the UK is not reserved exclusively to citizens of the UK.

Best regards,
