2. ICSS Ordinary General Meeting
Hello everyone!
We have concluded our Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) yesterday, thank you for coming down to listen to our presentations! For those who missed it, the OGM was held to provide a recap of past events and give updates to new initiatives, keep our members informed about our society and a platform for our members to clarify any doubts and give constructive feedback so that we can serve you better.
Below is a quick summary of the OGM:

2. Upcoming events like Christmas Party, CNY dinner and Major Event were presented.
3. Updates for Ski Trip, including the collection dates for clothing rental, was presented. A reminder will be sent out via email to those involved.
4. Keep 29th Feb, 1930h free because Major Event will be held then! For performers, do keep 8th, 16th and 23rd Feb free for the Great Hall full-runs too! Meenatchi also introduced the ME and Singsoc Hoodie, do look out for updates on it if you want your hands on some special merch!
5. For Play@ICSS, the budgets and recap for WSG and NWG were presented! Inter-society friendlies were also introduced so do join your various sports groups for more details!

Hello there!
The weather in the past week has been pretty rainy and miserable and I'm
sure we're all looking forward to more sunny days already! ☀️
The turnout at *Hyde Park Picnic* over the weekend was amazing despite the
initial weather scare. Thank you for dropping by and we hope everyone had

Hey ICSS!
Thank you all for coming to *Hyde Park Picnic*! It was very heart-warming
to see so many of you turn up despite the poor weather at the start of the
event and we really hope you had a good time munching on the food and
chilling under the rare London sun. This event wouldn’t have been possible

2. Halloween Party
Hey everyone!
*Halloween Party* is less than two weeks away now! Scheduled for *29th
October, from 6pm till 9pm*. Join us for an evening of food, games, and
competitions with attractive prizes to be won!
This year, we are holding a costume competition and pumpkin-carving
competition. Curious about how to take part?
For costume competition, just let us know *on event day* during
registration that you are keen to participate in the costume judging. The
winner will receive a pair of tickets to *Thorpe Park Fright Night* on *2nd
Nov*! 😱
As for pumpkin-carving competition, form a *group of ~1-4*, choose a group
name, then sign-up for the party in the *sign-up form*! If you have already
filled up the form, just drop either of us a text to let us know that you
are participating, and who you are forming the group with. 🎃
Purchase your pumpkin from your choice of grocery store, work some magic,
and bring your masterpiece to the party so we can display it! Keep your
receipt for your pumpkin and send it to us for reimbursement! The winning
team will receive four tickets to the popular Camden club, *Propaganda’s
‘Day of the Dead’ event* on *2nd Nov*!
What’s a party without food? So, we are going to have some food and
refreshments catered! We also totally encourage you bringing a little
something to the party too. We will be organizing hall cookouts so that
seniors and juniors can meet and bond over culinary skills and share their
wonderful cooking with each other. 😋 Check your hall chat group for more

2. Hyde Park Picnic
Hey ICSS! *Hyde Park Picnic* is back!
As ICSS’s first official event during the academic year in London, Hyde
Park Picnic gives members a great opportunity to catch up with friends, or
make new ones over food, games and sports while enjoying the last days of
autumn.
This year, HPP is turning up the flavour factor with incredible snacks from
home like *salted egg chips, iced milo and ice gem biscuits*. Chase away
the nostalgia of home food by engaging in sports with your friends such as
Captain’s ball, Ultimate Frisbee and football. If you prefer to be
stimulated (intellectually) while having fun at the same time, have a go at
ICSS’s board game collection with your friends while munching on food.
Regardless of what you like, Hyde Park Picnic is the perfect event for you
to have fun and make new friends. You can even vote for what food you want
to see more of on the event page.

3. OpenJio
*“Jio” - popularly used in Singlish, meaning “invite” “Open Jio” - means
“open invitation”*
We are introducing something new to ICSS this year! *OpenJio:* is a series
of cool & interesting mini-events which can range from movie outings and
day trips to karaoke, cookouts and mahjong sessions! And of course all
these are open jios!! Bring your groups of friends along and we can all
have fun together. Some of these also come with nifty discounts that
members can enjoy :)
What's even better is that *anybody can start an OpenJio:* - if you have an
activity you want to find people to go with, just pop a message to Xian
Fong or email vicepresident(a)ic-singsoc.net and I can help you get some
publicity in for an open jio!
Just this past weekend, our first OpenJio: was a movie outing to watch
Joker on the Superscreen at Cineworld Leicester Square. We had discounted
tickets for everyone and we had dinner together at Old Town 97 after the
show!
Our next OpenJio: is coming up this coming *Tuesday*! Organised by
Nathanael, our Year 3 member, *The Art of the Pub* is a pub crawl starting
at the IC Union Bar at 8pm and ends in Fulham, stopping by a curated
selection of pubs along the way. This is a great way to get a little more
familiar with the area (for the freshers) and have a good time with friends

Hey everyone!
It’s finally the month of October, *Halloween Party* is here!
Scheduled for *29th
October*, from *6pm till 9pm*. Join us for an evening of food, games, and
competitions with attractive prizes to be won!
First up, because it is Halloween, we are going to have our very own

5. Nottingham Winter Games
Hello ICSS! *Nottingham Winter Games* is back, and with more than just
sports on offer, it promises to be a fun day with your friends! Organised
by Nottingham Singapore Society, Nottingham Winter Games is an annual event
that welcomes all from Singapore Societies around the UK for a day of fun,
banter and friendly competition.
All Imperial students (exchange students & postgraduates too!) are welcome
to sign-up, and registration fees will be subsidized by ICSS depending on
the number of participants (*for ICSS members only**), so hurry up and sign

Hello there!
Ah time flies, doesn’t it? We’re exactly one week from a new academic year.
To those already in London, hope you’re settling down fine and preparing
for the new term. To those still in Singapore, enjoy your last few days
left back home!
This is going to be an exciting week for the freshers who are starting a
new chapter of their lives. *Move-in day* is coming up and as seniors, we
fully understand how hectic and overwhelming it can be settling down in a

1. Move-in Day: Hall Walkabout & Duvet Collection
Hey freshers, *move-in day* on 28 September is coming soon and we have a
hall walkabout in store for you! The hall walkabouts will be held in the
afternoon of 28 September. Your seniors who stayed in the same halls
as you *last
year* would be bringing you on an orientation tour around the area near
your hall *- to the nearest supermarket, amenities and food places! Time
will be allocated for you to shop for daily necessities such as kitchenware
and bedding too! *Do look out for notifications in your hall Whatsapp chats
for more details on the day itself. Also, if you have ordered your duvet
with us, you would be collecting them at the hall walkabout *so don't miss

Thank you all for the overwhelming response to *Ski Trip 2019*! The first
booking round has now closed and the second and final round will be opening
in October. So far, we have *73* Singsoc participants with more friends
from *10* other universities in the UK and SG joining us! A few updates
here:
For everyone who has booked your trip on the Action Outdoors website, do
note that you have to finalise your choice of transport by *29 September*.
Any changes afterwards may incur an additional penalty fee. This also means
that for those who book in the upcoming Round 2 in October, you cannot
change your transport option after confirmation, so choose wisely!
*Rooming preferences* will be collected soon along with *ski clothing
rental* options, so do watch out for more information on the FB pages and
in your emails!

It's been a exciting past 2 weeks as we wrapped up *Warwick Summer Games*
and *UKBound 2019*! Now that our summer events are done and dusted, we look
forward to seeing you all for our upcoming events in London! 😄

Hello everyone!
For most of us, our countdown to London is around the 1 month mark at this
point which is really sian exciting. EXCITING. Freshers, you heard it here
first: studying in Imperial is very, very exciting.
Jokes aside, it's been a hectic summer for everyone here in the 37th Exco
(yours truly here crashed for more than 14 hours after *Sojourn *ended). No
complaints though, we're glad that our summer events planned for freshers
have received positive feedback! (Psst it's not over yet! Do sign up for
*UKBound*! There are attractive prizes to be won!)
Preparations for *Major Event* are underway and we're really excited to
invite more freshers on board with us to make the production a success. We
highly encourage everyone to join in ME regardless of musical background
(or lack thereof) as it will be an unforgettable experience! 😆

Hey you! Yes you! Do you want to try out new things and get out of the
boring study life? We NEED YOU to join ME *CAST & CHORALE*. The
pre-production for *Major Event 2020* is well under way as our script is
being dutifully written and our ever professional music team have started
composing songs!
Now we need you to join Cast & Chorale to act and sing in Singapore
Society's one and only *MAJOR *event! No prior experience is required! As
you can see in the picture, a total of only *FOUR* Cast actors actually had
any musical/singing/acting experience so rest assured that we do not need

Our annual Pre-Departure Talk was held last week in Furama Riverfront Hotel
with an amazing turnout of 131 guests. Thank you seniors and academic reps
for volunteering your time and for helping to make the event a

2. Message for Freshers
Hello from everyone in the 37th Executive Committee!
To the freshers, welcome again to the ICSS family! We’re really happy to
meet you for the very first time at our Pre-Departure Talk on 21 July! We
hope you enjoyed yourselves while mingling with the seniors and your fellow
coursemates, at the same time keeping afloat on the numerous administrative
matters to clear :)
After receiving so much information at the Talk, I’m sure you’re starting
to be excited about what’s in store for you; so are we! Throughout the
year, you’ll be sure to make a lot of friends, try new things and most
importantly have an enjoyable experience. I can personally say that for
myself and I’m sure you’ll get the chance to do the same!
While you’re in Singapore, keep a close lookout at our Freshers’ Events!
These events are specially planned by us for you to build upon the support
base before even heading to London! Get ready for a sun-burnt yet splashing
fun time in our orientation camp, *Sojourn*; represent the pride of
#teamicss in *Warwick Summer Games*; take the chance to mingle with other
*UK-Bound* (pun intended!) students in *UKBound 2019*!

A big thank you to all the people who have signed up for Sojourn so far!!
Really excited to meet all of you at *Sojourn 2019: Conquest*. It will be
held from the 16th to the 18th of August (Fri to Sun).
Do look out for an *email* regarding details for the event itself, payment
methods and the submission of the indemnity form (if you haven't yet)
coming up at the *end of this week*! For all of those who have yet to sign
up and are thinking about it, don’t worry! Sign ups close *31st July

For UKBound 2019, we are gonna be playing *Laser Tag*! It will be held on *7
Sept (Saturday)* and more details will be released closer to the event date.
3 rounds and only 1 team left standing at the end of the day. Do you have

Booking for our annual ICSS Ski Trip is now open! Remember, we are
beginner-friendly! Regardless of whether you are a total beginner or a
skiing/snowboarding expert, bring your friends along and let's spend a
great week in the French Alps with the ICSS family! *Val Thorens* claims
the title of Europe's highest ski area and is part of the famous 3 Valleys
ski area, with an impressive 140km of piste across all skill levels.
The ski trip is also open your *non-Imperial friends* (even if they’re from
an SG uni!), so do invite them along too!
