1. Major Event 2019 Seniors Sign-Ups
Hi everyone!
With exams over, it's time to start thinking about the new academic year -
and with a new academic year comes a new *Major Event*!
It is my pleasure to announce that work on next year's show is already
underway. Those who have participated in Major Event will no doubt have
sweet memories of glorious past shows, and for those who haven't, there's
no need to feel like you're missing out - now is your chance to join! We
are looking for dancers, actors, singers, musicians, builders, stagehands,
influencers - everyone has something to contribute! The sign-up form can be
found HERE
<https://union.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d91a1cb130f12317830464586&i…>.
Please also take note of the following pertinent points:
1. We are still looking for *chorale directors*. The chorale director is a
key position in our Creative Team and is currently unfilled. If you have
experience with singing and would like to coach the team next year, do
indicate this in the form when you sign up!
2. We would like to recruit the *Lights and Sound Director *earlier this
year as well. Lights and Sound play a vital role in the production every
year, and we would like it to be represented more strongly in the Creative
Team. If you are interested in this, please mention this in the form!
3. You can now sign up as a *lyricist*! If you're interested in music but
don't have much experience in composition, this will be a great opportunity
to get involved! You will be part of the music team, working with the
composers and the scriptwriter to craft memorable and catchy lyrics for our
songs.
That's it from me - exam results may be coming out soon but do take your
time to think about the things you've done that really defines your
university experience. Major Event is one of those things for me, and I
would hate for anyone to miss out on the chance to express their talents
and meet some great friends along the way.
Till next time,
Nat
2. AIG Student Assist Plan
Hello!
ICSS is partnering with AIG yet again to provide the *AIG Student Assist
Plan*! Due to an increase in claims, there has been a change in policy
within AIG such that the *10% discount* applies *only to new applications*
and *not for renewals*.
However, if the *start date* for your insurance policy last year was in*
August/early September* *and* you're only *departing Singapore at least 7
days after that date*, you can submit a fresh application form through
ICSS, and we will try our best to still get the 10% discount for you. If
you'd like to check your policy start date, do contact me via email or text
(president(a)ic-singsoc.net)

Medical Expenses. More information can be found on pages 2 and 3 of the

Hello everyone!
Year on year, seniors have complied what is essentially a dummies' guide to
London, aptly titled - *The Ultimate Sotong Guide*! Back with a refreshed
look and an updated accommodations section, the Ultimate Sotong Guide 2018
is now complete! If you know any incoming freshers (undergraduate, masters
or postgraduate), feel free to share this LINK

2. Pre-Departure Talk 2018
Heya people!
Finally, it is my (one and only) time to shine. The annual ICSS *Pre-Departure
Talk* will be happening again soon! As I'm sure we all know, the
Pre-Departure Talk aims to welcome the incoming class of freshers into the
Imperial Singaporean community, as well as to provide valuable information
to ease their transition to life here in London. As seniors, your advice
and know-how is invaluable! Every course already has an academic
representative who will be coming down to meet the freshers, but the more
the merrier (especially for the larger courses)!
The details for the Pre-Departure Talk are as follows:
*Date*: 15th July 2018
*Time*: 1400 - 1700 (registration for freshers will start at 1330)
*Venue*: Furama Riverfront Hotel
We encourage as many seniors to attend as possible to share your knowledge
and interact with the freshers (don't just come for the food people)! To
sign up for the Pre-Departure Talk AS A SENIOR, please go to this LINK
<https://union.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d91a1cb130f12317830464586&i…>
(don't mistakenly sign-up through the freshers' sign up form :P). More
information will be sent out via email to seniors who signed up closer to
the event date!
Thanks in advance, and hope you all have a great day!

2. Introduction by the 36th Major Event Officer
Hello readers of K&T!
I hope both of you are holding up well in this stressful period of exams.
There are many people I wish to thank for this opportunity, and even more I
would like to blame. I have written them down in a list somewhere but it is
too long to share. Needless to say you (yes, you) are on it.
Jokes aside, I would truly like to thank those who took the time out of
their busy exam schedules to make their voice heard. For those who did not,
thank you for not voting for RON.
There’s isn’t much I have to say that hasn’t been said in my manifesto or
video, but it is truly an honour to be able to serve the Society and to
realise next year’s *Major Event*. While I am sure many of you feel as
apprehensive as I do, I hope at least some of you also feel excited as I am
for it.
Till next time,
Nathanael

That's not all! Regardless of whether you use their services, they're
offering *FREE BOXES* which can be delivered right to your doorstep to help
you pack all the barang barang you have. The offer has no end date, but
there is a limit to the number of boxes we give away each month, so head

key in your Imperial College CID number to have the discount applied! This
coupon discount is valid till *1st July 2018*. Do note that not all drivers
accept the 10% student discount or 5% ICSS discount (or both) and sometimes
the discount can be lower if you do the math. However, the system shows the
best solution for the job parameters you specify.
(*ICSS is not liable for any loss or damage of items handled by the
companies.)
------------------------------
As for those of you who are staying in London in the Summer, the Singapore
High Commission is holding a *National Day Reception* at the Queen's Tower
Room with the theme being "Smart Cities" on the evening of the *10th July*.
As part of the reception, they normally engage a small band / musical group
to perform background music, and they would like to offer this opportunity
to Imperial students! You can expect to do roughly two 45 minute slots on
the night itself.
Do contact me at president(a)ic-singsoc.net if you are interested and would
like to find out more! :)
------------------------------
To those who still have papers, all the best, and to those who have
finished, enjoy your holidays! See you guys back in Singapore in the summer
:)
