Digest
Hey everyone!
In the blink of an eye, the Easter break is over and the *summer term* has
begun! While this may mean that exams are now terrifyingly near, on the
bright side, the academic year will be ending in a little less than 2
months! Yes, that means going back to Singapore for most of us - tasting
some good ol' prata, drinking some kopi, and sweltering in the tropics.
That sounds absolutely wonderful.
Before I lose all of you to your own I-miss-Singapore reveries, there are
still many things happening this summer term! First up, the
Summer Elections are fast approaching, and the 36th Executive Committee
will be opening up nominations for the vacant position of *Major Events
Officer (MEO)*! Whether or not you are thinking of running for MEO, do read
through the information provided below thoroughly - your votes will matter
in the Summer Elections!
While the summer term may be the final term of the year for most of us, for
others, this term marks their last term here at Imperial College. As
per tradition, the 36th Executive Committee will be holding the annual*
SingSoc Farewell Party* in a couple of weeks' time! Check out the post
below for more details on how to RSVP.
Our gold sponsor this year, *ExxonMobil Singapore*, will be holding a
campus recruitment talk and they want you to attend! Please see the post
below for relevant details.
Don't stress too much over exams everyone! Remember: dread it, run from it,
destiny still arrives.
With warm protein-denaturing-temperature regards,
Teo Jia Wei

1. Major Events Officer Election
Hey guys!
As you may have noticed, our team's missing an important person. After the
Leadership Elections held earlier this year, the role of *Major Event
Officer (MEO)* was left vacant.
Every year for one night, and one night only, ICSS puts up musical with
over 90 participants who have spent over 9 months preparing for this event.
>From scripts written to music composed and dances choreographed, these are
all original works created by our talented members. Major Event is an
opportunity for individuals to meet and get to know fellow Singaporeans and
be part of something bigger. The Major Event Officer oversees this event
and is guaranteed a whale of a time during their term.
We will be *reopening nominations of MEO* together with the Imperial
College Union Summer Elections. The guidelines for the elections have been
sent out via email to all registered members of ICSS. Individuals
interested in running for the position of MEO are advised to read through
the instructions carefully.
As there is only a single position open for nominations, the 36th Executive
Committee has decided that *an Extraordinary General Meeting will not be
held*. Instead, the candidate will submit a *manifesto *and a *3 minute
long video speech* indicating his motivations in running for office and
plans for Major Event 2019. More information can be found in the
information sheet sent out.
Voting will be carried out online from* 29 May to 1 June 2018* this year.
Do note that the right to vote for your desired MEO in the Summer Elections
2018 for ICSS is *member-exclusive* and the *deadline for membership is 9
May*.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions regarding the elections
process. Thank you for your support so far and here's to an exciting year
ahead :)
Your feeling-like-something's-missing President,
Jacelyn See
