Updates
Hello everyone!
I am running out of things to say already because I don't know what else to
say besides "STUDY HARD!!" Congratulations to the lucky few who have
already finished their exams. To the rest of us who are still struggling to
stay afloat, hang in there, the end is near! (:
Nothing much in this week's issue of Kaya and Toast as well - just a
round-up of the Seniors' Farewell Party which happened yesterday (thanks
everyone for coming!) and a short advertisement by one of our graduating
seniors!
Your faithful secretary,
Siming

1. Seniors' Farewell Party 2013
The annual Seniors' Farewell Party had been successfully concluded
yesterday, 24 May 2013, after a night of warmth, fun and games. Once again,
thank you to all who have turned up! We hope that you all enjoyed the
games, the authentic Malaysian food (with the mouth-watering dessert!) as
well as the bubble tea.
To our dear seniors - we hope that this Seniors' Farewell Party had given
you a chance to catch up with your fellow batchmates whom you haven't see
in a long while, as well as reminisce on the times you've spent in ICSS in
the past 3 years. Congratulations on your graduation, and we sincerely wish
you all the best in your future endeavours. Thank you for all that you have
done for us, and you shall be dearly missed.

> 2. Major Event 2014
>
> Hello once again!
> To recap from last week, the two ideas that we have shortlisted are:
> 1. Entertainment Night
> 2. Musical(s)
> We are in the midst of deciding which one to go for. As the idea of the
> entertainment night is a new one, here's a little more explanation below:
> +++
> The key points of the Entertainment night are as follows:
> - To put up a quality, entertaining show
> - To incorporate more humour elements
> - Many different acts, pieced together, to form 1 show
> The show is envisaged as a 'competition' between two teams. They will
> 'compete' through these acts and items that they put up. It will be a night
> of items that are pieced together. These acts can vary, keeping in mind the
> need to put up a quality performance and showcase our talents. Some ideas
> include (and are not limited to):
> - Playing a musical piece
> - Singing competition
> - Martial arts showcase and performance
> - Dance item
> Additionally, we will seek for audience participation. This can be through
> a voting process, for perhaps the winner of the above-mentioned
> 'competition'.
> How the teams interact, the order of the items etc will be planned,
> scripted and rehearsed. We will rehearse together and practise together. We
> will be preparing and performing as 1 Singsoc, not as 2 teams.
> A possible structure could be as follows:
> 1. Emcees start the night off
> 2. Team A performs act A1
> 3. Team B replies with act B1
> 4. Some Narration
> 5. Act A2
> 6. Act B2
> 7. Time given for audience voting and participation
> 8. Act B3
> 9. Act A3
> 10. Intermission
> and so on.
> +++
> Major Event is a large-scale event that involves many, and reaches out to
> even more. As your Major Event Officer, I am interested in your opinions
> about what we, as a whole Singsoc, should do next year for Major Event. If
> you do have any ideas that you think can help me in this decision-making
> process, or have suggestions as to how we can improve both ideas above (the
> Entertainment Night and the Musical), do let us know, for 31st Exco and
> myself are committed to doing things that our members are interested in. We
> are committed to your cause.
> Its a handful more weeks to returning back to Singapore for most of us.
> All the best for the upcoming papers, and do know that the Exco and myself,

>
> Hope you had an enjoyable Easter! Here's an update about Major Event 2014:
>
> Thanks to all your contributions, we've had a good handful of fresh ideas
> suggested for Major Event 2014! A discussion was recently held among myself
> and all the idea contributors, where we reviewed the aims of Major Event,
> evaluated the ideas that were collated, and deliberated on the nature of
> Major Event 2014.
>
> To reiterate, the aims of Major Event include:
> 1) To create a platform for members of the Society to bond and interact
> 2) To showcase the talents and culture of Singapore to the international
> community
>
> Bearing in mind the aims above, the 2 ideas that we have finally shortlisted
> after the discussion are:
>
> 1. Entertainment Night
> 2. Musical(s)
>
> Here's a little explanation about the new idea we have (Entertainment
> Night):
> - Small segments of acts put together
> - Workload distributed among more people: no one has to carry the the bulk
> of the load
> - Focused on the aspect of humour: to let everyone have a good night
>
> I will present more information on this idea in the upcoming issues of
> Kaya and Toast; it is in the process of refining.
> The Exco and I would love to hear your opinions about the ideas (or
