                        Updates
Hi everyone,
First off, some updates.
For Christmas Party, don't forget to bring a small gift (<£5), unwrapped,
as we are providing a gift wrapping service. All the better to play the
MAD SANTA GIFT EXCHANGE. Come down to experience this twist on the standard
gift exchange. Also, sign up for free Santa hats/Reindeer antlers! See the
post below for more information.
Limited stock of Sojourn T-shirts are on sale; contact Xing Kai to order it.
Coincidentally, Xing Kai also happens to be *gathering photos* for this
years' 30th Anniversary Retrospect yearbook. Send him pictures of all the
cool places you've been to, and your coolness will be immortalised forever.
Good deal, in my opinion.
Secondly, as we conclude the never-ending flurry of Autumn events with the
Canterbury trip and Wicked II outing, we also look forward to MORE TRIPS
and MORE MUSICAL OUTINGS in Spring. Please send the relevant people (this
can be found below!) any suggestions you may have by their respective
deadlines.
Finally, all careers posts will now be summarized into 1! The full details
for each, if it interests you, can now be found in the spanking new careers
section in our ICSS
website<http://e.groupspaces.com/click/2p5u5-1ez6m-10m6vr7f9r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.u…>
.
With just over 2 weeks to Ski Trip, I'm already dreaming of a white
Christmas... sigh.
Your faithful secretary,
Gabriel

 2. Spring Trip
Hi all!
ICSS is looking to organise a Spring Trip within *February next year*! In
order to better cater to members' needs, the choice of destination is open
to suggestions from the society. Take note that suggested destinations must
be within the UK and should preferably be within 3 hours coach ride from
London!
We have received 8 suggestions so far and we will be starting the poll very
soon. So please send any more suggestions before next *Wednesday, 5th
December, 12pm* to eventsofficer1(a)ic-singsoc.net.
Yo**ur super friendly Events Officer,
Ting Wei
  ------------------------------
 3. Autumn Trip
You may have had to carry an umbrella and step into puddles the whole day,
but I hope the weather did not spoil your mood and you had fun exploring
the Canterbury Cathedral, having tea at Tiny Tim’s Tearoom, buying plenty
at Poundland and of course, taking a lovely walk about the city centre. (:
Thanks everyone who came for trip; your punctuality and co-operation were
honestly much appreciated and this trip couldn’t have been a success
without your active participation. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves on
this trip and do look out for our next trip in Spring! (:
Your friendly events officer,
Qian Wen!
 ------------------------------
 4. Musical Outing - Wicked
Hi everyone, with the final musical outing for this term over, )):, we are
hearing cries for MORE MORE MORE! As such, we will be gathering your
opinions on which musical we should watch in Spring! If you're dying to
watch any particular musical, you can email Qian Wen at
eventsofficer2(a)ic-singsoc.net to propose to her. The musical title.
Look out for our Facebook poll which will be released sometime next week!
I hope those who managed to catch Wicked despite the traffic, bad weather,
and fire alarm at Victoria tube station enjoyed themselves! If you did,
remember to vote for your favourite musical to watch next term! Thanks. (:
Your faithful secretary,
Gabriel

 5. Sojourn 2012 T-shirts

photos. The photos can feature anything, both in and out of London.
Beautiful scenery, nice architecture and activities, both cool and mundane,
are all welcome (even grocery shopping at Sains!). The photos need not
feature anyone. Photos can be either portrait or landscape. RAW formats, if
available, are preferred. Send your photos to liaisonsofficer(a)ic-singsoc.net

                        Updates
Hi everyone,
If you have been reading the Fiesta posts closely, you would have realised
that next week we have our Ordinary General Meeting (OGM). This is where we
will *update you on the various happenings*, on completed events and
upcoming ones. As it is a members' meeting, everyone will have the chance
to *engage the Exco* on any matter that concerns the society. To include it
in the agenda, you can click on the agenda link below for directions.
Finally, we will be giving out your *membership cards* PLUS a *free Ben &
Jerry's cup* to all attendees who sign up at the link below. We will also
be presenting the *Fiesta awards* and Point Hope will be presenting their
Book Prize to their awardees.
As for Hall Fiesta, all you have to do now is to "like" all your favourite
dishes on our Facebook page, under the Hall Fiesta album. Then, come down
to OGM to witness the presentation of all 3 awards of "Closest to Home",
"Best Caption" and "Most Popular Dish"!
Some announcements:
1. Nottingham games is *this Saturday*. Time to take out the war paint and
bring along your warrior gear to the year's last major sports competitive
showdown.
2. 2nd "Wicked" Outing. *Only 6 tickets available*, which will be allocated
on a first-come-first-serve basis. No time to wait. Early bird catches the
worm.
3. Shopping Trip and Autumn Trip are now closed! Any new signups will be
put on the waiting list.
Now for the non-ICSS stuff, that are nonetheless important and quite
relevant to some of you:
1. The UKSSC AGM will be held on the *17th of November*. You may sign up as
a candidate or nominate your friends. Deadline for submission of Nomination
Form and Manifesto is 10th November 2359hrs.
2. Chance to meet DBS CEO, Mr. Piyush Gupta at a *complimentary* talk cum
networking event held at Millennium Gloucester Hotel on the *6th of November
*. Food will be provided, and if previous experience is to be trusted, you
can be sure that it will be of a high standard.
3. Finally, for those who may consider a career in NEA, EDB, MFA or Foster
Wheeler, check out the OSU career series below.
Once again, thanks for reading. (:
Your faithful secretary,
Gabriel

 12. Global Inter Universities Presidents (GIUP)
Message from GIUP:
JOB POSTING: *Nationwide Student Blogger*
GIUP is providing the most talented finance students in the UK with an
outstanding opportunity to significantly boost their career in high finance.
One of the main reasons why it's so hard to become a respected financial
blogger is because you must first become well-known. Bloggers must market
themselves, which can take many years; it’s the main reason why many great
bloggers remain undiscovered.
The right student will take advantage of this opportunity to make a name
for themselves on a platform that will be doing their global marketing for
them.
Our company is seeking the most knowledgeable students in each of the
following industries:
- Investment Banking, M&A and Private Equity
- Trading (from global macro to quants and algo. specialists)
- Hedge Funds and Alternative Investments
- Venture Capital
Your task will be to compose discerning blog posts about your specialist
area on a weekly or bi-monthly basis. These blog posts will be seen by
thousands and may significantly raise your online career profile with
leading financial industry employers. Please apply through Facebook by
sending a private message via our FB page – suitable candidates will then
be contacted by our managing director: https://www . facebook . com/GIUPLou*
