We did it! - Results from ICSS VS ICUMS Paintball Here's a message from our President, Joshua: * "Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result." - Winston Churchill* On the 26th of November 2011, history was made. On that fateful day, *20 brave warriors* from our country secured a resounding victory over our rivals, the Malaysians, in a fierce battle spanning the entire day. Thanks to the following brave men (and woman!) - Marc, Bennett, Gerald, Shenghong, Xing Kai, Arnold, Ashley, Yixiang, Yong Qian, Bomb (Very Fast) Runner Teck Jan, "Mad Dash" Justin, Yikai the Just-Taking-A-Walk-Into-The-Enem**y-Base, Bao Chen, Jason, "Bunny Hop" Jin Yi, General Yan Bo, Yuxiang, Joshua, and of course, Eileen, the lady who proved you don't need army training just to give the Malaysians a good run for their ringgit - our country's honour has been restored and history has been made. <http://e.groupspaces.com/click/1nkmg-1ez6m-26lzsld1ds?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffiles.…> * **This is one of the weapons we used against the Malaysians... just kidding ;)* To those who answered the call of duty, thank you. It is thanks to *you*, your battle scars, your tireless running, your endless shouting, your fervent cheering, your meticulous strategising, your precision shooting, your cooperation, your unity, your Singapore spirit, that today's victory was made possible.The memories of Justin making a fantastic run to the base past stunned defenders, Yikai taking a leisurely stroll into the enemy base without being fired at, Teck Jan becoming one of the world's fastest bombers and Yanbo commanding all our forces with verve and vigour will always be etched in my mind. In our VP Eileen's words, the whole experience of shooting someone was immensely therapeutic. And in Churchill's words, it's even better when you get shot at without getting shot. Given how proficient our detachment of twenty Special Forces troopers was in shooting the other team without getting shot, I believe all twenty of us could testify to having experienced both sensations described. So, to the most rugged, most hardcore and most determined of our nation's fighters, *We did it.* To those who missed out on the action, don't fret! ICSS is still in the running to be the Champion of the inaugral Who boleh? series, and it all comes down to our last TIE-BREAKER event, our *Food Festival*. If we claim that food is our national past-time, this is our chance to prove it. Get your thinking caps on (and your aprons), start thinking about the best dishes that you can prepare, and voila! We're in business to take on MSoc one last time, to fight for our nation's glory and claim what should be ours. Spread the word, and let's make this last one count. At the end of the night, we will choose three wishes and grant them! Here's a message from our President, Joshua: *We may have lost the battle, but we haven't lost the war.* Dearest Singaporean Warrior, In our epic struggle against our rivals from MSoc on Sunday morning, we conceded the first battle to the Malaysians- but we have not given up hope. Indeed, I was heartened by the spirit and the ferocity of the players I saw on the court that day. Even though we lost, I'll find it difficult to shake off the goosebumps when everyone shouted a resounding "SINGAPORE" at the beginning of the match, and kept in high spirits even to the finish. To all our brave warriors who fought hard on the dodgeball pitch: thank you. *You have done us proud.* And now the time has come to reclaim the victory that should be ours! To all ICSS members, I urge you to call on your friends and most fiercely patriotic fighters to join us in the next episode of this campaign against MSoc- the Paintball Shootout. This Saturday, we will once again meet the Malaysians, on a very different battlefield, armed with very different weapons from that which we used against them on Sunday's Dodgeball match. Singapore VS Malaysia Round 2: Paintball shootout (26 Nov 2011) On the 26th of November, Saturday, we've organised an Imperial College Malaysian Society versus Singapore Society paintball tournament! It will be held at Aveley Road, Upminster, Essex, RM14 2TW. Don't worry, the RM there doesn't stand for Malaysian Ringgit; they're not biased in any way. Justtttt for you, we've organised an exclusive Paintball Package for *23.50 pounds*! This includes: - *Bus trip to and fro * - *All personal protective equipment, including mask, body armor and black coveralls * - *Paintball gun * - *100 free paintballs* Typically, the normal price of an entry into a paintball venue would cost approximately 25 pounds, so the ICSS trip is *HEAVILY SUBSIDISED*. What more reason do you need to sign up? You are encouraged to wear loose, comfortable clothing; you will each be given a set of black ninja-style coveralls, so don't worry about the paintballs staining your clothes. Just worry about them bruising your ego, and your butt. Also, the first four letters of paintball is PAIN, so be prepared to take it like a man. Girls may hide behind guys. For maximum effectiveness, choose a large guy. We will be *leaving the Beit Quadrangle at 8.15 am*, in order to arrive at the paintball venue by 9.00 am. The venue has food such as hot dogs and hamburgers for sale, but you may also bring a packed lunch. Please note that lunch is not catered for in the 30 pound fee.
