But, do you have your First Aid qualification? Come on Y4 to get Qualified!! (Regular caving will also be happening) We aim to have everyone who comes on the expedition qualified in Outdoor First Aid, plus all of our leaders and as many others as we can get just for regular club running. As I have recently started telling myself: "do daft sh*t - but be ready for the consequences", things are just better and safer with more qualified people around. Sean Whittle, a member of the Cave Rescue Organisation will be running the 2-day course, it's very hands-on, lots of fun, and *Completely Free!* Yes you heard me, the club is paying for you to attend this very expensive course, and it costs you only the price of a weekend trip (£45)! The course itself is two days (Saturday 9ish-5ish, and Sunday 9ish-4ish), and covers all sorts of injuries and emergencies that can arise in caving, providing you with an accredited qualification that lasts 3 years. There are 8 places available, and every club member is eligible to attend! (Also if a driver attends the first Aid Course, but would still like to cave, there's a chance for a short "after dinner" trip, otherwise we might do some rescue training in the npc, just so people can do some fun caving or rope stuff!) *When:* Friday 21/02 - Sunday 23/02 *Where: *The Yorkshire Dales (The NPC <https://northernpennineclub.org.uk/>) *Membership:* you need membership to join weekend trips which is £30.00 (membership lasts the entire year) Price:* O**nly £35* if this is your first trip! Or £45 for returning members *NOTE: *SRT is required if you intend to cave, but not for the First Aid *How do I sign up?! Please reply to this email with: * -Your full name -Any dietary requirements -Any medical conditions -An emergency contact number for your next of kin -Your CID number -And anything else you think we need to know over the course of the weekend. *If you have any medical conditions, dietary requirements, or any concerns you're not comfortable discussing over email, please speak to a committee member during kit-packing on Tuesday, or Friday. It's very important to us that our trips are inclusive and accessible, so we're happy to make accommodations. *Reply quickly to make sure you get a place!* *How the trip works* *Kit packing - *We will meet in *stores on Tuesday (18/02) at 17:00 to pack kit*. You do not need any equipment of your own, we will provide everything you could possibly need in a cave. *Transport - *We will set off in the minibus on *Friday evening around 17:30 *from outside Beit Halls and return there on Sunday evening around 23:00. *Food - *We will stop at a supermarket somewhere on the way to buy all the food we need for the weekend and also for you to buy Friday's dinner as well as snacks or drinks. Saturday’s and Sunday’s meals will be cooked as a group at the hut, and the cost is included in the trip cost. (Accommodation, food, transport and all equipment are covered by the trip cost!) *Caving - *On Saturday we'll usually wake up around 8:30, cook breakfast and plan our trips in an open discussion while we eat. We can have fairly long caving trips on Saturdays for those who want it, but sometimes a few of us decide to have a nice day on the surface instead. We'll aim to get underground right after midday, lest we anger the caving gods. Trips can range from 3 to 8 hours, depending on the cave chosen and how people are feeling. Sunday will run much the same, only trips will be shorter since we need to drive back to London in the evening as well. There are lots of different caves for us to visit on this trip, so check out some of our previous yorkshire trips on our website! Imperial College Caving Club <https://imperialcaving.com/> *Accommodation - *We will be staying at the The NPC <https://northernpennineclub.org.uk/>. Their hut has a large kitchen and living room, plenty of bunk beds, toilets, and showers! *FAQ's* What if I can't pack kit on Thursday? - Just send us a message, and you can do it on Friday (if you can come before 5pm that helps) What if I can't make the trip anymore? - Please give as much notice as possible, we might not be able to refund you if we can't fill your space on the bus. Can I bring my phone underground? - Short answer: yes. Long answer: We wouldn't recommend it as they can get damaged. Instead we have 3 'Cave Phones' that can be taken underground! What is SRT? - Single Rope Technique (SRT for short) is the method of using ropes to navigate vertical sections of cave. We run free training all through the first term. Any other questions? Just reply to this email or ask on the groupchat. Socials and kit packing are also a great chance for you to discuss any concerns or have a conversation with someone in person. *Upcoming trips* 20/02/2025 - *the AGM!!!!* 07/03/2025 - North Wales 1 Until I succumb to *Weil's disease*, Chris ICCC president P.S.
