Good afternoon cavers, 
As we pass the half-way point of the first term, the Winter Tour is fast approaching! Don't miss your chance to register your interest... 

What is Winter Tour?
Winter Tour is our big Christmas trip! As usual, we pack the minibus full of kit, and head up to yorkshire, but this time for a whole week!! Not everyone stays the whole time (particularly if you're employed), but regardless of how long you stay, prepare for:
  • Longer, and more exciting trips - Push yourself and test your skills! Visit Gaping Gill? 
  • Photography trips - Learn the art of lighting, and get awesome pics to show your friends and family!
  • More SRT, More Cave, More Fun - Watch yourself improve over the week and enter spring term a pro caver!
  • Rigging and Rescue Practise - We have 6 places available for rescue training with the one and only: TONY SEDDON!! 
  • Christmas Dinner - One evening we will enjoy a lavish and luxurious christmas dinner, as well as a week of gastric delights planned by club chef Thurston
What do I need?
Enthusiasm, Excitement, and the Christmas spirit! 
The requirements are the same as our usual freshers SRT trips, so you need:
No Experience - No Equipment - Buuuut... SRT is required
So get yourself down to tree training!! There are 5 sessions left this term!!!

How will it work?

Kit packing - We will meet in stores on Thursday (12/12/2024) at 17:00 to pack kit. You do not need any equipment of your own, we will provide everything you could possibly need in a cave.

Transport - We will set off in the minibus on Friday evening around 17:30 from outside Beit Halls and return the following Friday evening.

Food - We will meal plan in advance, and have our huge order delivered direct to the hut! 

Caving - There will be trips of all sorts running everyday! We will visit a huge variety of caves and systems, and you'll get to know Yorkshire like never before! There are lots of different caves for us to visit on this trip, so check out some of our previous Winter Tours on our website! Imperial College Caving Club

Accommodation - We will be staying at the The NPC. Their hut has a large kitchen and living room, plenty of bunk beds, toilets, and showers! 


Logistic and cost?

Per day, Winter Tour is cheaper than our weekend trips! The cost is divided between everyone, and you wIll only pay for the days you stay. We have also applied for Union Trip funding which should provide a big discount for students! Last year Winter tour cost only £115 for the whole week (food, transport, and accommodation all included)! (what a bargain right??) 

Of course, the tour is quite close to Christmas, so not everyone can stay the whole week, but that's fine! We are staying only a 5-minute drive from Clapham (N. Yorkshire) station where trains run regularly to wherever you need to be!



Winter Tour is easily one of my favorite club trips, and it's an amazing chance to push your skills and try new things! I strongly recommend it! The signup will be released closer to the date, but if you'd like to show your interest and give us a better idea on numbers that would be great. Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions about the cost or logistics either, Winter Tour is really important to us as it lets us pass skills on through the club, and we'd love to share them with you!
