Hi all,

Thanks everyone for a great Curry Night – I hope everyone got home safe and has recovered. As the Christmas break draws ever nearer and you discover all the work you said you’d do but never did, I bring good news: plenty of opportunity to hide from responsibility underground.

Tree Training will not be continuing next term, so if you’d like to come to SRT trips next term but haven’t learnt rope techniques yet (or haven’t yet completed everything for winter tour), make sure to come this and/or next week! (Wednesday 1-4:30pm, Prince’s Gardens). Please also remember it usually takes two sessions to learn all the skills.

We’ll still be at 568/Union Bar every Tuesday around 6pm, and the variety of socials will continue next year of course – more info nearer the time.

Here is the list of trips planned for next term (all SRT trips except Wales), pleasingly spread out every two weeks:

20-22/01/23 Wales 3 – SWCC (non-SRT; no tree training required)

03-05/02/23 Derbyshire 1 – DPC

17-19/02/23 Yorkshire 2 – NPC

03-05/03/23 North Wales* - Imperial’s hut

17-19/03/23 Yorkshire 3 – NPC

* I’m especially excited about the club’s first proper trip to North Wales as far as I know – the slate mines are renowned for being great fun. However, there are new dangers present in mines which should be respected (generally less stable, non-standard anchors, trickier navigation etc) and the club has very few people who know the area – as such everyone on this trip must have been on at least one SRT trip before.

Easter tour is likely to run for one week early in the Easter Holidays, but more info on duration and location will follow soon.

Yours till we buy sexy black PVC oversuits,

Matti
