Hi all,

Lot of small updates:

Could everyone on the list send a quick email by Tuesday evening letting me know if they’d want to stay until Monday evening or not please.

This would be an unofficial request so it’ll take longer than usual, hence it might not even get through before we need to       leave, but I’ll try.

Obviously people driving their own car can leave whenever they like.

Yours till the plans are finally concreted,

Matti

Subject: RE: ICCC 60th Anniversary

TLDR: BPC instead of Greenclose, T-shirt shop product available, please email if you’d be happy to cook early-ish on Friday

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who has confirmed coming to the 60th Anniversary – to anyone who missed the first email or for whom it slipped out of mind, please reply to this email if you’d like to join us in Yorkshire on the weekend of the 16-18th September (new members must have done rope training with us).

Unfortunately due to the building works going on at the NPC there was a certain degree of uncertainty regarding the booking for that weekend; we have therefore decided to shift from Greenclose to the Bradford Caving Club in Brackenbottom, a short drive away. We’re sorry to have to change plans, especially since several people are NPC members, but it felt like the safer option. I’m sure we can organise picking people up from Clapham if they’ve already bought tickets there, just send us an email.

I’m pleased to say that we managed to get the T-shirts ordered, and, if all goes to plan, they’ll arrive in time for the weekend and be driven up from London. Unfortunately I don’t have a proper picture of what the shirt looks like, but the design and preview are shown below. Big thanks to Wojtek for helping come up with the design, and many others who gave feedback to improve the iterations. The T-shirt is available as a shop product here (or https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/csp/caving/60th-anniversary-t-shirt) for £14.54; this can be purchased at any point before, during or after the weekend, though there is a limited supply.

Finally, because we’ll be quite a large group its been suggested that getting some of the cooking for Saturday out of the way during the day on Friday may make the following evening run slightly more smoothly; unfortunately though the minibus isn’t likely to arrive until late in the night. If you are planning to come slightly earlier on Friday and would be happy to do a bit of meal prep please send us an email. I’m sure it’ll all work out fine even if we make it all on Saturday, but it may minimise the explosion of faff that will inevitably occur.

Yours till the final pasta bake,

Matti

Subject: ICCC 60th Anniversary

Hi all,

ICCC turns 60 this year!

I thought I’d suggest something similar to what was done at the 50th – A relaxed weekend at the NPC, old lags invited. Gaping Gill is the obvious choice to facilitate lots of people caving in the same system, but any suggestions are of course welcome. We’ve booked the 25 beds at the NPC HQ, Greenclose for the 16-18th September.

Ben Richards and Co. produced an amazing documentary about the Slovenia Expedition in 2018, which many of the older members may not have seen and many of the newer members may enjoy re-watching, hence I’d like to suggest that feature on the Saturday evening. The NPC has a projector screen but no projector – If anyone who intends to join has a projector they’d be able to bring along, please let us know.

If anyone has any photos or videos from previous ICCC antics that they’d like to share please do bring them along. We’re also currently being sent originals of ICCC’s predecessor, London University Caving Club’s volumes dated 1967-1973, which should be entertaining reads.

We’re also seeing if we can get some form of celebratory apparel to be printed, probably T-shirts or Fleeces; I’ll follow up on the details for those interested. If anyone would like to be involved in the designing process or knows any good printing companies do get in touch.

We’ve kept the website (https://union.ic.ac.uk/rcc/caving/) well updated with trip and tour reports if anyone has been out of the loop with what the club’s been up to.

If you know anyone else who may be interested but I haven’t copied into the email do please spread the word; I asked around and looked at the back catalogue of the website but there’ll surely be people I missed.

If anyone needs to borrow any kit just let us know your approximate furry/oversuit and welly sizes, we’ll surely be able to bring up a couple extra kit bags.

It’d be fantastic to get to know some old lags who us newer members may never otherwise meet, so please reply to this email if you’re interested in joining. There is also a facebook event if you would like to confirm there.

Yours till the final decennial celebration,

Matti
