We're going to Yorkshire for a week! Come along for Christmas dinner, epic caving trips and every cover of Last Christmas.


When Friday 15/12 - Friday 22/12 but you can come for any time during this just let us know before.

Where Yorkshire

Membership you need membership to join weekend trips which is £30.00 (membership lasts the entire year)

Price Last year it was £100 for someone staying the whole time but the price will vary depending on how much we spend so it will be capped at £150. You will be asked to pay a £50 deposit before the trip. The price will of course be less if you aren't staying for the whole time. You will still get a £20 discount if this is your first trip. If you are not travelling in the minibus you will need to sort out and pay for your own travel.

SRT (Single Rope Technique) You need to have learned how to do:

-Ascending

-Descending

-Change over

-Deviation

-Rebelay

before coming on this trip. We have been keeping track of what everyone has learned and want you to be as confident as possible before taking you in a cave. There are three more tree training sessions before the trip so there is still time to learn if you come to at least two sessions. If you've already learned some skills you can practice them and learn the rest. You can still sign up and will be given a place but it will be conditional on you learning the remaining skills.

You do not need any equipment of your own, we will provide everything you could possibly need in a cave. We aim to confirm spots by the end of this week and an email with more details will be sent out then. 

 

How the trip works

We will set off in the minibus on Friday (15th) evening around 17:30 from outside Beit. We'll stop at a supermarket somewhere on the way to buy Friday's dinner as well as personal snacks or drinks. All the other meals will be cooked as a group at the hut, and the cost is included in the trip cost. Accommodation, transport and all equipment are also covered by the ticket price. On a typical day we'll wake up around 9, cook breakfast and plan our trips while we eat. There will be a range of caves that we visit throughout the week and this is a chance to push yourself to do harder trips and for some people to learn new skills. There will of course be chill trips and there will be surface dwellers most days who will go for walks, play board games and complain about how bruised/hungover/tired they are. We'll aim to get underground right after midday, lest we anger the caving gods. Trips can range from 4 to 10 hours, depending on the cave chosen and how people are feeling. We'll drive back on Friday 22nd at a currently undecided time depending on whether we go caving first. We'll be staying at the NPC cottage in Yorkshire.

 

Upcoming trips (Term 2)

Almost all trips next term will be to Yorkshire so you need Single Rope Technique (SRT) which you can learn at tree training which runs every Wednesday in first term 1-5pm (but you can turn up any time and stay as long as you like) in Princes Gardens. It's free and you don't need membership to come. Tree Training is only running in the first term so you only have 3 sessions left to learn all the skills if you want to come on trips this year.
