Hello Cavers, We are having a general meeting to arrange the appointment of a new tours secretary. If you want to run and are a full member then you can! Current candidates are: Diss (current favourite) Perry Ron If you want a chance to vote then come in two weeks time to the Emergency General Meeting, 12th December from 7pm, where you will also have a chance to run! If you are interested in attending our summer expedition to Slovenia, then this will be a great time to register your interest and be involved in planning discussions. Yours always. ICCC Winter Tour (15th-21st Dec)

Hello Cavers! With over half the trips now done, its time to start thinking about Winter Tour! We will be going to *Yorkshire for **(almost)** a week of caving!* This email contains all the information that I remembered you need to know. *Overview (you still need to read the email)* - Will take place 15th - 21st December. - You don't have to attend the whole thing. - SRT required. - Very low cost. - E-mail to sign up. *Winter Tour* A great way to practice your SRT in the best vertical caves the UK has to offer! 5-6 possible trips including the classics such as Notts Pot and Gaping Gill and plenty more!! Its a great opportunity to put your advanced tree training to practice, and even learn to navigate your way through a cave. Some of you (us) are even ready to start learning to rig! *Logistics* We will be staying at the NPC's Greenclose House in *North Yorkshire*. If you haven't been then you'll be glad to know that there is a great kitchen, wood fire, warm showers, cozy bunk rooms, and a great drying room so you aren't caving in wet gear all week! We will drive up on the *15th December*, aiming to leave as early as possible (12:00) but if you have lectures until the late evening the let us know and we can work something out!. The Drive back will then happen on the evening of *21st December* to give everyone ample time to get back home for Christmas! *Transport* *Minibus *- There will be *12 spaces* in the 15 seater minibus, the rest of the space for all the rope, food and caving gear. Please get in touch if you would like a space there or back. *Train *- The closest train station is *Clapham, North Yorkshire.* The station is about 30 minutes walk away but if you arrive in the evening or early morning we can arrange to pick you up. *Train expenses are you own.* *Kit* You will need to bring a sleeping bag, kit will be packed the Tuesday before hand. Some things that come in handy will be some hiking boots, a synthetic (non-cotton) thermal top and a buff. Chat to us on a Tuesday or email here for some more advice on those. *Cost* Trip fee's are worked out per person, but the minibus costs will be split equally because we need it to bring all the gear to Yorkshire that everyone will be using. Previously the trip has cost *£90-£110 for the full week* and *£50-£60 for half a week* *Sign Up* If you want to sign up the please reply to this email ASAP. Easter Tour

Hi all, It's time to start thinking about Easter tour! If you're not sure what that is - we usually fly to somewhere warm over the Easter holidays for a week of caving/drinking and relaxation. The plan for this year is to revisit Sardinia which includes an underground camp and supposedly lots of cheap wine. The club has been there before so you can check out some of the tour reports and photos here <https://www.union.ic.ac.uk/rcc/caving/articles/sardinia-2014-03-31.html>. Looking at flight prices, it seems that going from Sunday 25th March to Sunday 1st April would be a good time (term ends on 23rd) but this may change by a few days. The cost should be £200-300 and this includes pretty much everything you'll need for the week (flights, accommodation, food etc.). More details will be figured out later; I'm just trying to gauge interest at the moment. If you're thinking of coming, let me know! Christmas Curry

Hi everyone, Join us for an evening of cocktails and curry in the east end. See the Facebook event here <https://www.facebook.com/events/724888644369790/?notif_t=plan_user_joined&n…> . *TLDR;* *- Christmas Curry and Cocktails* *- 6pm at Be At One* *- Thursday 7th December * We'll first be going to *Be At One on Brushfield Street* before walking to *The Famous Moonlight* on Brick Lane. It's a BYOB venue and seems pretty cheap so food will likely be *~£10-15*. I'm sure some people will be coming from South Kensington so if you want to make the way there together, *meeting in stores* beforehand is a solid plan. If you don't want to come for cocktails, you can meet us at the curry place. We'll probably be there from 7.30ish but that will depend when we can get the table booked for. There is also a Wetherspoons close by so we can end the night there. Exact details of booking and meeting times to follow but please let me know if you want to come so I know how many people to book for. Yorkshire 2 Sign Up, 8th-10th December

Hey Cavers, The Last trip of the year! Yorkshire 2, great to get some more practice in for Winter Tour! *As long as you have attended tree training* and completed ascending, descending and passing a rebelay then you should be good to go. (Practice of course is perfect and nobody wants to get stuck in the cave so do keep coming!) CHECC - 24th-26th November

Hello Ravers, *I Cant Read:* - CHECC 24th-26th - £40-£45 - Email CHECC for training *What is CHECC?* This year the club is organising a *trip to CHECC* *(Council of Higher Education Caving Clubs)* Forum on *November 24th - 26th* . If you dont know what this is then the official website <http://checc.org/checc-forum/> says: "CHECC forum is an annual meet-up for all of the member clubs. Held annually in November at various locations around the UK, the forum is a chance for students to network with other clubs. There are competitions in all aspects of caving, from surveying to single rope technique (SRT) and cave photography. It is also a chance for clubs to get a bit of extra training. This is *the* essential event in the student caving calendar – not to be missed!" So as not to mislead you I shall say that the "networking" mentioned here is pretty much a big *drinking/partying/caving* festival which involves caving games. *Training Sessions* Also available over the weekend is a plethora of training opportunities. Josh Bratchley the training secretary posted this on our Facebook page. which gives more information on the sessions available and how to book onto them. Feel free to post in the group to scout out which sessions other people will be booking onto. The Surveying and SRT are probably not going to prove useful for our trips. A Golden Age of Cave Exploration at the RGS, 1st-3rd December

Hey Cavers, The Royal Geographical Society is hosting a one-off conference "A Golden Age of Cave Exploration" to celebrate the last fifty years of British cave exploration, both in the UK and abroad. This is a really exciting event happening just *round the corner from Imperial College*, so we're trying to get plenty of Imperial cavers to attend. >>> Event website <http://www.rgs.gharparau.org.uk/> <<< The conference is split over three days: - Friday evening: <http://www.rgs.gharparau.org.uk/talks/#friday> Four long, detailed talks by renowned cave explorers, covering UK caves, exploration in Vietnam as well as cave science (£10) - Saturday all day <http://www.rgs.gharparau.org.uk/talks/#saturday>: Short talks include Yorkshire, the Peak District and Wales in the UK, as well as and Mulu, China, America, Africa, India and Vietnam! (£5) - Sunday all day <http://www.rgs.gharparau.org.uk/talks/#sunday>: Short talks on the Mendip, Devon, Scotland and Ireland, as well as Austria, Spain and Slovenia. (£5) You can buy tickets for each day individually, so if you can only make part of the conference you don't have to pay for the rest.
