Hello Guys, You may have heard gossip, rumours or drunken proclamations but it is now official: ICCC is going to New Zealand! *Key Points:* - Discover unexplored caves under Mount Owen in New Zealand - Dates are 1st - 22nd April (In the Easter Holidays) - Cost will likely be £500 each - £500 deposit required by 10th January 2015 to confirm your place - Email ic.caving(a)gmail.com or talk to us if you're interested *More words:* Attached is a better PDF summary of the expedition as well as the full ~40 page proposal. Essentially this is a fantastic opportunity to go to the other side of the world to discover previously unexplored caves, to tread where no human has before, at an incredibly subsidised price. The exploration board is providing us with £750 subsidy per person, allowing us to offer this expedition for just an additional £500(ish) from each person. We currently have 6 people on the expedition, myself (Rhys), Jack, Tanguy, Oli, James, and Clare, most of whom you will have seen if you've been caving. We are looking for an additional 3 people to come and explore with us. Our vague criteria is that you should have been caving with us before and you should be prepared to go on trips and first aid courses in the Spring term. End of term admin and house keeping

Good morning all, The Autumn term comes to an end, and I will soon stop using this mailing list to advertise our events. Instead, I will use the caving club's mailing list (and add a few of you to that one so you can still receive information). Since it is one of the last emails I'll send here I'll include a broad overview of what happens next: There are still places for our *Winter Tou*r from 30th of December to 5th of January. Sign up ! Please refer to the message with heading Winter Tour for more ample information. *Spring Term* trips will see a step up in the technicality of the caves, and prepare you for a multi-day expedition. There will be at least four fortnightly trips, the first one non SRT on the 23rd-25th of January. It is an opportunity to start caving with us if you haven't had the chance during this term. This often turns out to be very popular so sign up early ! Products on Eactivities will be on sale during the Christmas break, and we'll update the website as well. First Aid Talk: Tues. 9th Dec. 6:30pm

Hello all, Many of you have been on a few trips now, so it's worth thinking about safety in caves. The club has an excellent track record of keeping everyone safe, and we intend to keep it that way by holding a few sessions on different aspects of safety over the next few months, The first talk will be on *First Aid* in caves on *Tuesday 9th December at 18:30 in the Union Meeting Room 4 (3rd floor)*. I will focus on hypothermia and minor trauma, and there will be 'simulations' in which you can practice your first aid skills on actual, alive (willing) humans. Winter Tour ! Don't miss out !

Hi all, We will lead a traditional Winter Tour ( seven day trip ) to Yorkshire from 30th December to 5th January. *What is it all about ? * It is an action packed trip, where you will get to polish your SRT skills and explore a the longest system in the UK. We will celebrate the New Year underground. It will also be a great chance to learn about cave rescue with Tony Seddon, a seasoned cave diver, active member of the caver rescue organisation and manager of Starless river ( caving equipment). *Do I need to go for the whole week?* No, although it is great value for money - and we recommend the whole week- it is absolutely fine to come for a few days. We work out the fees accordingly. We are very flexible with the numbers of cavers. *How much is it going to cost ?* Again, great value for money: our budget this year is to have no more than £100 for the the full week, all included. We work out travel fees accordingly if you have to take the train up to stay for part of the trip. *Can I sign up now?* YES! *When do I have to pay ?* We work this out the week after we get back and send you an email. *Anything else I ought to know before I sign up?* This trip provides the perfect building blocks for the preparation towards the end of year expedition to Slovenia.
