Hi all, Thank you to everybody who is still turning up this late in the term - I know that many of you are having to meet tough deadlines, but there are some faces that we haven't seen for a while and we'd love to see you all again! We have two session left this term, next week and Monday 23rd March, and if we get enough people along we could have a tournament to finish the term on. Next week would also be a perfect time for you all to come along as we will be having Mike in for a second week to teach us, so make sure you come along! (we might even have some snacks.) As it is coming up to the end of term we will be holding our AGM, and thus our elections for committee positions next term, on our last session (Monday 23rd March). There are three roles: Chair/President - Responsible for the day to day running of the club; provides teaching, enters competitions, and promotes the club. Financially responsible for club along with the treasurer Treasurer - Primarily responsible for the finances of the club, e.g. claiming expenses and managing budgeting. Secretary - Helps with the running of the club, sends out the weekly e-mail. Anybody who is a member of the club is allowed to run for a committee position. To apply simple e-mail me with your interest or ask me at the next sessions - if you are interested in running for a position but unsure exactly what this entails then feel free to get in contact with me or another member of the committee and we would be happy to answer any questions you have. Being a committee member doesn't take up a huge amount of your time, is a great thing to put on your CV and is also good fun - I would thoroughly recommend getting in touch if you think it might be something you'd like to do! It is also tradition for the chair to bake a cake for the AGM so come along and have a say in who will be running the club while enjoying some free cake! On a side note, Bridge club inadvertently have the highest turnout in the Big Elections for indoor clubs (as of the writing of this e-mail - you can check for yourself at https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/big-elections-2015/stats/csps) . We also have the third highest turnout in the RCC; we've been promised a prize in the next meeting if we come in the top 3 so anyone who hasn't voted yet, please do! If you've read everything then thank you, if you skipped then the salient point is: come to the last two sessions of the term! Fun guaranteed! See you all soon, Dominic
