Hey All, As promised, more details on the AGM and Poker Night taking place on the 7th of March - the plan for the evening is: 18:00-19:30 - Bridge Club 19:30-20:00 - AGM 20:00-23:00 - Poker social event The AGM is one of the most important parts of the year. You'll get to hear how the club has been run, ask questions and also comment on how the club can be better run in the future. We'll also be voting in 3 new committee members to take over the club next year. The three positions up for grabs are: President, Treasurer and Secretary. They're good fun, look great on a CV and will help Bridge Club to continue its success next year. So please think about taking on one of these committee positions. All you need to do is give a 30-second pitch as to why you'd do a good job at the AGM and be voted in democratically by the members. If you want to know more about what these positions entail, please e-mail me. Even if you can't come to the Poker Night and don't want to stand for a committee position, please do come along for the AGM because next year's committee needs to be voted in by at least 50% of the club's members (Union rules). As for the Poker Night, there will be a buy-in of a couple of pounds and a cash prize for the winner. Depending on numbers, we may also run two separate tables - one for poker beginners and the other for intermediate/advanced poker players. We will be playing with proper poker chips (!), kindly lent to us by Poker Society. There will also be food and drink provided by Bridge Club! If you would like to take part please e-mail me before midnight on Monday the 28th of February saying that you would like to play and whether you're a beginner or an intermediate/advanced player. DO NOT press "reply" to this e-mail, because the message will get sent elsewhere. Please send your message to rs2209@ic.ac.uk<mailto:rs2209@ic.ac.uk>. Once we have an idea of numbers, we will send out a more detailed plan for the Poker Night, including the final buy-in price and how much the cash prize will be. If you have any questions, please let me know. Rohan
