Session on Monday

Hi everyone! Last week we had a mini tournament and you all did such a great job! All the committee members were really impressed, so keep on doing such an excellent job. The results are as follows: Erik-Stella 73.61% James-Tim 59.72% Dominic-David 56.25% Albert-Peter 55.56% Ye-Ji 53.47% Stepan-Jorrit 52.08% Giliano-Aaron 43.75% Horia-Daniel 40.28% Jamie-Alex 33.33% Laura-Caleb 31.94% Also, if any of you are interested in participating in a biggerbrid tournament, we have *London Cup* coming up on the *5th of December* at our university. It is an inter university bridge tournament that is hosted alternately by LSE and Imperial. There will be a team tournament, which will run from 10am to approximately 5pm - this will include time for lunch and a short break. Entry for a team costs £12 and can be paid on the day. Should you have any questions or if you feel like participating, feel free to write me. :) This week's session session will be held in* Bla**ckett 539* (the physics building) at* 6 pm*. Bridge Mini-Tournament Tomorrow

Hi all, Just a quick reminder that we will be having a mini tournament during our session tomorrow (6pm as usual but in Skempton 301 this week). I'd really encourage everybody to sign up, the link is http://goo.gl/forms/FkwiefUTXL. Tournaments are great fun and are one of the best ways to improve your bridge skills and solidify a partnership - the more people who play the more fun they are so don't miss out! I especially encourage people who started playing bridge this year to sign up as the experience gained from even a small tournament is invaluable and will really help your play - last year the winners of our first mini tournament were two beginners! We are asking for a £2 contribution to fund the prizes (which are going to be absolutely awesome) so please try and remember to bring it. There will be drinks at the Union as usual afterwards. You don't need to have a partner to register, but if you have one, indicate it on the form. It is a really nice and fun way to get better at the game and we have some lovely prizes, so don't miss it. Also, most of the participants are beginners so no pressure. :) The entry fee is* £2 *and the tournament will last from *6.15-8.15pm*. Bridge ROOM CHANGE!!!

Hi everyone! Firstly, this week is going to be a room change so instead of the physics building, the session will be held in *Skempton 064a and 064b at 6pm*! The building is next to Queen's Lawn, number 28 on the picture. :) This time Dom has a couple of *power point presentations* for you and he is going to cover some points on *scoring*. After that we are going to play as usual. Next week there will be a *mini-tournament*, which gives you an opportunity to put everything you have learnt so far into practice. To prepare you for the mini-tournament, we will be simulating one today. A lot of stuff to do this week so come along and don't forget about the room change! :) PS! Hi everyone! Tomorrow we will be focusing on the *game strategy*. There will be a short talk about both declarer and defensive play in the beginning so don't be late if you want to hear it! :P Also, don't feel discouraged if you don't get the bidding bit straight away. Hello everyone! It was so nice to see so many new faces at the session this week. I hope you all had a good time and that I'll be seeing you again this Monday. I am sorry that I could only stay for an hour, but I am sure Dominic and Erik did a great job with teaching. Even if the game seems to be hard to grasp right now, I can assure you that it will get easier, more interesting and more beautiful over time. :) The session tomorrow will be taking place at the same place, *Blackett 539*, at *6pm*. This time we will focus on *bidding*, so you can get familiar with the heart of the game.
