Hi all,
There will be a few competitions coming up:
The Portland Bowl<https://www.ebu.co.uk/competitions/portland-bowl> is open for registration, and we are looking to send 2 teams of 4-6 people. This is a knock out competition between British Universities and Higher Education Institutes, and it will take place entirely online this year. Last year, both our teams got rekt in the first round, but we managed to win the Portland Bowl Plate in the end. Please indicate your interest in this form<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=B3WJK4zudUWDC0-CZ8PTB4N…>.
The London Cup will also be coming up soon, but I don't have concrete details for you yet unfortunately.
Regards,
Your committed committee
hi all
since I have only 8 usernames so far, I think I will open a team match at 6 instead, so we can play with only 2 tables. see you all later
regards,
Ryan
Hello all
We will be having weekly sessions on BBO<https://www.bridgebase.com/> every Tuesday at 6pm (starting tomorrow). Please drop your username in this form<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=B3WJK4zudUWDC0-CZ8PTB4N…> (at least by 5pm tomorrow) so that you will be able to register for the event tomorrow. We will have the event up by 5pm and we hope to see you there. Please do come a bit earlier so we can sort out the pairs(you can register with a partner, or use the "Partnership Desk" to find another person without a partner.)
If you have never used BBO before, we have attached a guide from the EBU on using BBO. Also, if you are new to the game, we have also attached a bidding sheet that you can follow when playing.
This year, we have reduced the membership fee to £3(from £5). Tournaments that we enter over the year will be open to members only, and we will cover the costs involved(tournament entry, transport if applicable). If you enjoy our weekly sessions and join frequently, we kindly ask that you support us by becoming a member.
Hi all
We will unfortunately not have our weekly session today, as we're still trying to figure out hosting events on BBO. We will hopefully be able to start our weekly sessions at the usual time (Tuesdays 6-8pm) next week.
If you haven't already, do sign up for the new mailing list here:

Because we aren't able to have in-person sessions this year (no biscuits!) we have reduced the membership fee to £3 for this year(from £5). Membership will let you participate in our weekly sessions and also let you participate in tournaments (fully covered by us) that we attend.
Regards
your 20/21 committee

Hi everyone,
Some of us are playing in the finals of the inaugural Portland Bowl Plate event organised by EBU and the Portland Club at 10AM BST on Saturday 6th June. The matchup is team A (Tham, Thomas, Marcus, Benedict, Wang Pei and Yuelin) vs team B (Kyle, Toby, Jack, myself and homegrown superstar Ryan Tan<https://www.bridgewebs.com/youngchelsea/bridgesessionwarwickroom2019_960by6…>). We'll be playing 32 boards for around 4-5 hours.
EBU has allowed kibitzers (spectators) for this event, so you can watch us play on BBO<https://www.bridgebase.com/>, but you'll have to create an account as anonymous kibitzers will not be allowed. You'll be able to find the games if you follow my username (hwudoin). It's also a great opportunity to watch something more involved, especially if you're interested in joining the club to play in events next year. (fingers crossed!)
Hoping to see you there,
Chongyou
Hi all,
The Cambridge people are holding their next BBO on Saturday. Details below.
Hi Everyone,
Based on the responses I’ve received, our next BBO session will take place this Saturday 2nd May at 14:00. If we have 4 tables then we will play 12 boards (around 1h 35); If we have 5 tables again then we will play 15 boards (around 2 hours) to complete the movement.
By popular demand, the session on Saturday will be scored using X-IMPs.
If you have not yet filled out the form, you will need to complete it here – https://forms.gle/CaUGRgLWkZNLtvNV9 – before being able to register on the day. Otherwise, everyone else can register as normal on BBO; Again let me know if there are any problems.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday!
Thanks,
William
P.S. So far I have also received interest in team games from Lawrence (lawrence1994(a)gmail.com) and Gabija (gp1g17(a)soton.ac.uk) I will forward on contact details if anyone else would like to play.
Remember to sign up on the Google Form first if you're playing (looking at certain individuals here 👀).
Until next time,
chongyou
