Regular Session + Portland Bowl

Hai everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week! :> The next session would be the usual: Tuesday at Blackett 741, 6-8pm. A few of you enquired about competitions, here's one: Portland Bowl. Portland Bowl is the annual Inter-University Bridge Competition and we are looking to send 2 teams this year. The competition is a stepladder format and teams will play in a few (likely 1 or 2, depending on the number of participants this year) matches over the next few months before the top 4 teams meet at the Portland Club in April for the semis & finals. In the (unlikely, fingers crossed) event where a team gets knocked out in the first round, you will get a chance to participate in the Portland Plate instead and still have opportunities to compete! We are currently looking for players to fill up the 2nd team, if you are keen and interested in playing in the 2nd team, do let me know in private (or with a partner)! 2nd Session on Tuesday!

Hai everyone! Great to see many of you for our inaugural session of 23/24 last Tuesday! Hope that everyone had an enjoyable session. As per usual, our next session will be held on Tuesday (17th) from 6-8pm at Blackett 741. For those who joined us last Tuesday, you are going to progress into learning about the bidding! You would find the attached document particularly useful as a reference for the next (& future) session(s). Fret not, you are not required to read this before the session as you would have a more comprehensive understanding of the ideas when we walk you through the ideas in person on Tuesday. Do contact me if there are any concerns regarding accessibility of the document. For our evergreen players who missed out last Tuesday, don’t worry! Welcome to Bridge 23/24!

Haii Everyone! I'm Chaleon/Ervin, president of Bridge 23/24! It's lovely to have met many of you during Fresher's Fair last Tuesday! On behalf of the committee and the returning members, welcome to Bridge! As promised/mentioned/explained during the Freshers' Fair, the first month of sessions are free for everyone - membership is not required! For the evergreen players, you would pick up the game over these 5 weeks and gauge whether this is for you. For the (semi-) seasoned players, you would either be playing with some of our current members or helping out with the evergreen players. Our regular sessions are held on Tuesdays, 6pm-8pm at Blackett 741 unless otherwise stated. I would send out weekly emails informing members of sessions around Sunday or early Monday (such as this!) so do keep a lookout for that! Greetings from Bridge 23/24!

Hai Everyone! I am Ervin ‘Chaleon’ Wee, the president for IC Bridge 23/24! Hope that everyone has had a fulfilling and refreshing summer break and is ready for the new academic year! 😃 Here are some administrative stuff/requests/updates. 1. Mailing list: We will be doing a purge on the mailing list this Sunday! If you would like to REMAIN on the mailing list, do reply to this email! 2. Regular sessions Our weekly regular sessions remain on Tuesdays 6-8pm at Blackett 741 (location may change occasionally). We will be sending out weekly updates regarding sessions and any other news. Our first session will be held next Tuesday, 8th October 2023. We will send the first weekly email then. 3. Membership Should you wish to continue attending our sessions, do acquire our membership from the union here: https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/activities/a-to-z/bridge For £5, you get to have great company, great food, great memories and great memes too! 😝 4. Freshers’ Fair Our booth will be in the Union Dining Hall at the Union Building. We are booth 11 (or 12? Conflicting information provided by union grr >:( ) which is close to the entrance to the dining hall. Feel free to pop by to show your support and say hi or better still, invite and bring your freshers there too! 5. A quick word from me As the new year starts, I hope that we are all excited to getting back together and create many more fond memories on and off the table. With a promising year ahead for us, let us strive to be an even more cohesive, lively and skilled bridge club together.
