Hello everyone, Competition Nov 1st A quick reminder that tomorrow is our intra college competition. It would be great to see as many people there as possible as it will be fun and a great opportunity to improve. We would appreciate it if you filled out the form at the bottom of the email as it will help us with the organisation of the competition. However, we will try our best to accommodate anyone who shows up on the day. Please try to arrive before 6:15 at Blackett 741 so we can start promptly. It should finish between 8:15 and 8:30 with the results announced shortly afterwards. There will be prizes. Then, we will go through the hands interactively to help work out what everyone should’ve done on each hand. This will be a great learning experience and insight into how experienced bridge players think about each hand. Beginner’s session Nov 6th Also, on the 6th November, I am running a beginners and improvers bridge session in conjunction with Middlesex County Bridge Association. It is from 2:30-4:30. The bridge will take place on online software called RealBridge which is essentially a cross between FaceTime and bridge for those who don’t know. For those interested follow the link provided and a link to join will appear 24 hours before the session. Membership We have a lot of exciting plans for this year including some fun socials like karaoke night and for the first time ever we have been invited to send a team to the world university championships. Therefore, we need a lot of financial support from the union for all our plans to be realised. To get full funding from the Union, we need to hit our quota of 30 members. Currently we have 21. We would greatly appreciate it if you became a member. Also it will give you a vote in the upcoming Bridge Autumn Elections, which I believe takes place next week. Bridge next week

Hello everybody! It's nice to see how far everyone has come in their bridge skills! We hope you found the bidding sheets from yesterday easier to follow than those from last week. If anyone wants to go over the bidding at home, then feel free to take a look at the sheets attached to this email :) Also, a great place to practise bridge on your own is Bridge Base Online (BBO) — simply download the app or play on a computer online! Next week, on the 1st of Nov, instead of our usual session we're holding a competition! Everyone regardless of their bridge skills is welcome, use of bidding sheets while playing is allowed. We will be choosing the two teams who get to participate in the inter-university bridge competition Portland Bowl by looking at our tournament results. Competition - Nov 1st

Hi all, It’s been great to see so many of you come to our beginner sessions. I hope you all enjoyed and are excited to continue coming in the future. We need to choose our teams for the Portland Bowl (main inter-university competition of the year) by Nov 14th. Thus, we will be running a duplicate bridge competition to help us with the squad selection. We require two teams of 6 so we are looking for 10 people to join Lee Ann and me in the teams this year. It will take place on Nov 1st from 6:15-8:30 (approximate timings) in Blackett 741. Please try to arrive before 6:15 to avoid delays. Everyone will play 16 boards. We will score by match points which we will explain on the day before we start. Whilst we expect the more experienced members to have the best chance of making the team, we recommend everyone attends as playing in a competition is a great way to practice, learn and improve. Bridge tomorrow!

Hello everyone! As mentioned last week, tomorrow at 6pm (Blackett 741) we will continue with our beginners' session. By the end of it, everyone will be able to play proper, actual, real bridge! On another note, ICL autumn elections opened today! Our bridge club has open spots for the positions of Secretary, Competitions Secretary, Treasurer and Pool. Today and next week

Heya everyone! To all of you who we met today, thank you for coming! It was so much fun! Moving forward, next Tuesday we will continue with the beginner session by looking into trump contracts and hopefully by the end of it we can start playing actual, real contract bridge! So excited!!! For those of you wondering about advanced sessions, we will try to organise them in a few weeks' time. Once we have the logistics sorted, we'll send out a separate form to fill if you're interested! For all beginners looking to improve their skills outside of our society, we strongly recommend contacting the Young Chelsea Bridge Club<https://www.bridgewebs.com/youngchelsea/> (YCBC). They have new beginner sessions starting this Sunday that are free for students, taught at least partially by Mike Eden who was at the session with us today. If interested, please contact their manager Chris at manager(a)ycbc.co.uk and simply state you're a beginner player from Imperial — he's expecting you! YCBC is also a great place to play bridge for any other level of players from intermediate to expert. They have tournament-style sessions (free for students) on Mondays at 19:15 and Fridays at 19:30. To both, you are welcome to simply show up by yourself (they will allocate a random partner for you) or bring a partner along. No pre-registration needed, just show up! Hi everyone, We at Bridge Club would like to wish you all a warm welcome back to Imperial, having hopefully enjoyed your summer. For those that wish to continue playing bridge here, our first session will be next Tuesday at 6pm in Blackett 741. It will serve primarily as an introductory session for beginners, so those here who haven't had the chance to play previously are especially welcome to attend next week's session. We will be purging the mailing list at 11:59pm this Sunday (9th October), so request that anyone who wishes to continue receiving emails from here send us an email to confirm your continued interest.
