Hey radio people! I hope everyone's summers are going good n that... I want to get the ball rolling nice and early this year and start spreading radio love to imperial in the form of an ICR fanzine and i'm looking for possible contributors! Ideally i want to get it out in freshers week so the schedule won't be sorted but i was thinking it could include a general intro to ICR amongst other possible topics. So far ideas i've got are: * Intro to ICR, who we are, what we do, facilities, how to get involved etc... * Gig/festival reviews * Sounds of summer: album reviews, top track lists * New artist spotlights * An alternative freshers week plan * Schedule for special freshers radio shows * Descriptions of shows that people are definitely running next year (an easy chance to get your show publicity) * Cool hangouts in london (arty/foodie/music places whatever...) * Back cover advert for beer and biscuits meet if a date is sorted * Some cool front cover illustration .... If anyone wants to help out with the above or has any other neat ideas i'd love to hear from you, i'll use anything! Alone i reckon i could get a fair bit done but i want to make this as big and beautiful as possible. Design ideas? Again let me know! At the moment i'm thinking an a5 booklet (possibly a4), black and white, mix of printed and handwritten, proper DIY styley... The cover illustration's a biggy, i'm sure someone can doodle better than me! Also if anyone thinks they could help with distribution e.g. get copies into halls/around campus, i need you. So yeh, get thinking! Alex Malcolm (new promo dude) promotions@icradio.com
Hey Alex, Good to hear someone's into this! Actually, I had been planning since late last year to do something like this, inspired by the IC Radio Times which Matt Allinson made a couple of years ago. I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Íñigo, one of the Felix Music editors. We were planning on doing one issue, or just a big Felix feature, at the end of last year but fell short on articles because of exams. I'd love to help out with it now that I found someone who likes the idea so much! Just one thing though... we should be careful not to overlap content between FM and ICRadio, such as gig/festival reviews or editorials. A lot of the points you proposed are the sort of thing we cover in FM already. They're totally worth talking about but I thought the 'zine could be more directly about the station and the shows, to make our presence known in college (it's incredible how many people don't know about their own radio station!) and get people tuning in more often. A centrefold with the weekly schedule and quick description of each show is a must! Given the amount of media that gets sent in to the station though, a reviews section would work really well also. For the sake of clarity, I don't want to make this a FM spin-off but some collaboration could be cool. Likewise, I'd use it as a platform to push for a regular ICRadio night in Metric, like we've done with the FMNights. All the best, Íñigo ________________________________ From: icradio-announce-bounces@imperial.ac.uk [icradio-announce-bounces@imperial.ac.uk] on behalf of Malcolm, Alexander [alexander.malcolm09@imperial.ac.uk] Sent: 14 August 2012 22:26 To: announce@icradio.com Subject: [icradio] ICRadio Fanzine Hey radio people!
