Freshers' Fair planning and the re-start of ICRADIO for Autumn Term 2009
Hello Hope everyone is having a good summer Before the end of term I think we all decided that we wanted to try and keep the radio going over summer, if not with actual shows then at least with correspondence and planning for our meteoric rise to fame as the greatest Student Radio Station in history. We need to hit Freshers' Fair, hard: Now I imagine we will run the bones of it as we usually do - little stall, banner up, smashing out the tunes and being generally talkative to all the prospective new recruits. This is fine but I really think that we need something more, and so I want to open up the ideas discussion. Does anyone have a really good plan for an eye-grabbing thing we can do to promote ourselves further on the day? Something that has been said before is an MC battle, which I think will almost definitely happen, that's the kind of thing I'm thinking about. Beer and Biscuits: How do we want to run this? There were ideas floating around about holding the event on the Physics roof, or another venue that isn't our studio (as we all know it's quite intimidating and hard to get talking to people in our corridors). Any ideas? Freshers' Festival: We are in the process of organising a music festival, to be held in Beit Quad, the week after Fresher's Week. I'm going to make sure ICRADIO is as involved as possible, basically it's going to be one big unashamed advertising binge for us. We will need ICRADIO DJs to play between bands, among other things. When I know more I'll let you know but it's something to be thinking about, it would be great to get a big ICRADIO presence helping out at the event. Finally, I'm in London this summer and I'm going to be spending my weekends cleaning the station up - sorting out old mail and getting the place nice and shipshape. I might even get all the "On Air" lights working! If anyone else is about this summer it would be great to get some help. Many Thanks Dan
