Heyyyy everyone! Thought it was about time for another cheery radio update! First thing's first - we are working on getting the recording server fixed - wait from an email from our resident tech genius Oli when we have it back up and running! But big news! IC Radio has secured a Student Radio Award! Bronze for Best Newcomer, to yours truly... I'll be sending out info on the Student Radio Awards later on next term, but if you want to have a look at the website, maybe we could be celebrating YOUR victory this time next year! (Entry is dead easy and you get endless fun telling people that you're amazing after you've won one :P) http://www.studentradioawards.co.uk/ BUT EVEN BIGGER NEWS! Our dear friends at Felix are having an awesome MUSIC NIGHT in Metric tomorrow FOR ONLY 3 QUID!! Check out KABLAAM facebook event here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=289649254397857. The last I heard, one of our very own resident DJs Simon Hunter would be performing, so grab yo kids, grab yo wife, and go show some support whilst getting yo drink on. BUT THE BIGGEST NEWS! OUR INFAMOUS NANDOS SOCIAL RETURNS!! We're having our long-overdue Nandos social on Tuesday at 6pm... Be prepared for some serious chicken eating, banter, and undoubtedly a drink or two (or seventeen). Check out the facebook event for more info here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=307107079314955 A few more bits and bobs: * People have been asking about needles for the turntables - the story is that we DO have needles, but we keep the good ones (i.e. - the expensive ones) hidden so that they don't get broken and/or taken (by accident of course!). So, we're looking into investing in some relatively cheap needles for people to use and abuse. Finances have been a small bit rocky lately, but hopefully we will have the needles sitch sorted by the end of term! * Our Head of Programming Sophie has mentioned that she's still getting people for training sessions (because they missed/didn't turn up to previous ones, etc...). If you do get a session with her, please try and make it and not make her wait around for no-shows. The last batch of training sessions will be soon so if you still need one get on that ASAP! * Techie lad Oli has told me that some of you have been asking about removing your shows because "they sound bad" - I say, DON'T DO THAT! Student radio is all about practice and experience, so don't worry if you don't think a show went as well as you would hope! The method for removing shows is a bit long and tedious, so we ask that you only request this if you think there was something seriously wrong with the content in your show... And even then, it probably isn't as bad as you think it is. =) That's all folks! Enjoy the weekend, hope to see you at Kablaam! Love from your friendly neighbourhood station manager, Ashlynn Station Manager @ IC Radio 2011-12
