Ladies/Gents. First of all, good news, thanks the efforts from Chris and a very skilled man from EEE, Alice has fully recovered and all shows are free to restart! Yay. Second, bad news. Another pair of the headphones in the studio has been broken, they cost about 100 pounds for a new pair. Please treat stuff with respect, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. When we get new pairs, if you break them, I will break your fingers. That's not a threat, it's a promise. Hope everyone is getting through this period of revision with ease! Many glad tidings, Rich
Anyone in EEE will be unsurprised to hear that Vic Boddy (one of our lab technicians) basically took one look at the circuit, started talking about bridges, rectifiers, diodes and all sorts of things I should probably understand given how close my exams are and how much they involve these components, and instantly fixed it! Legend. Also, please see below an email about presenter training from our new Head of Programming, Andy Roast, which got stuck in the mailman filter earlier (sorry Andy, I've fixed this now): ________________________________ ... Everyone else including Chris: Oh also, I had an idea RE:training for shows next year. Basically I don't want to come over all hard nosed, but it IS important that people know how to present well and how not to do it. At the SRA, the woman who gave the presenting talk gave us examples of poor presenting and examples of good presenting. I was thinking about recording an hour long training session showing people how to be ace presenters. Basically it would mainly be me talking about presenting techniques, but I would need someone to be a "Dummy Prersenter" to do one 'bad' version followed by a 'good' version. I think this is a really good idea as it gives new presenters (and old ones!) a chance to actually HEAR how cool they could sound. If we have ACE presenters next year we will have an ACE station! (And we may even win some awards!) Alternatively I could do a youtube video of the same idea. We could use a short 5 min video as an advert for ICRadio next year! (Fliers with Find out more at www.icradio.com<http://www.icradio.com> and www.youtube.com/icradio<http://www.youtube.com/icradio> etc :) ) So Chris, can I record this as a reference for people, and everyone else, wanna be my presenter?
