Sound Engineering Course moved to Blackett 539 - 6:30pm tonight
Hi all - The sound engineering course has moved to Blackett Room 539, just across the road from the *Union on Blackett (Physics) Level 5, still at 6:30. *You'll need swipe-card access to Huxley/Blackett, or you can just try follow someone in. I'll have someone to let people in at the main door on Prince Consort Road at 6:25-6:30, but drop me a text or phone on 07728212303 and I'll send someone down if you're late. If you're still interested, but can't make it this time, please drop me an email so I can keep you on the list! The structure for tonight: I'm going to you a brief introduction to the current facilities (and the future plans) in our studio, and the procedure for booking it and using it. Then I'll give you a whirlwind introduction to sound engineering, microphones, techniques, etc; and there'll be a sign-up sheet where you'll be able to sign up in small groups to record bands over the next few weeks, where one of the current Production Team will be supervising - and then you'll get free reign to record whoever and whatever you like. Don't worry if you're not experienced - or even if you have plenty of prior sound experience - if you know what you're doing, please hang around for at least the first half an hour whilst I explain the peculiarities of our studio, and then you can run off ;-) Max *Getting involved:* New shows: programming@icradio.com Interview Opportunities<https://mailman.ic.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/icradio-interviews> Play/Speech Programming <https://www.facebook.com/groups/1440592662840032/> Music Team: Eamonn on music@icradio.com Web Team: Stephen on it@icradio.com On Thu, Feb 13, 2014 at 12:59 AM, Max Hunter <production@icradio.com> wrote:
Dear All -
Many of you signed up for the IC Radio Sound Engineering Course a few months back - if you haven't, and you're interested - please put your name down here <http://tiny.cc/icrprod>!
Some of you might know that the whole studio suite is being redeveloped starting on the 16th of March - which leaves us just over a month of useful time before it gets put to rest.
We want to make the most of it while it's around, so we're going to be running lots of sessions between now and then. If you want to learn how to record, edit, and mix music, come along at *6:30-8:30 this Friday 14th to the Shared Studio in the West Basement*, where I'll be running an introduction course to sound engineering and the studio - and you'll be able to sign up in pairs to sound engineer for one of the coming sessions (under supervision and guidance)!
There *might* be another one in the next week if all the session slots don't get taken, but I'm expecting this to be reasonably popular, and there's limited space, so please do try and make it :-)
See you all there!
Max
P.S. (There's a chance we might move to a lecture theatre in College, so watch this space, and make sure you're signed up on the link above)
