Hey everyone! Hope you are all having a lovely term! Here are a few updates from your fave/only student radio station: RBS Youtube Video We want to make a YouTube video showcasing IC Radio's activities/facilities to enter into the RBS ESSA Awards (chance to win some moneyyy!). If you want to get involved in the video making feel free to get in touch - I'm probably going to be bopping around the studio with a camera every once in a while. Another idea was to shoot a fake music video, something packed with 80s cheese and smoke machines would be exciting. If you have any ideas let me know! IC Sessions As you may have seen on the Speedybox, our members George and Max are hosting a weekly "live-lounge" every Monday evening at the station. If you'd like to head down to help with production or learn how to plug in cables like a pro, email Max at mlh11@ic.ac.uk or just pop down! ICU Cinema The lads over at ICU Cinema are still looking for radio people to throw them a playlist or short 10-20 minute segments to play as people take their seats before the films. Email me for more info or feel free to go ahead and drop a CD or USB up to the projector room in the Union! Student Radio Conference The National Student Radio Conference is being held this year in Leicester at Demon FM, between the 2nd and 4th of April. We have a little bit of grant that we can subsidise the tickets, full-priced conference ticket is £130 (this includes accommodation, breakfast lunch and dinner, and transport to and from the hotel). Let me know if you're thinking about going so that we can get a list of names together and work on subsidisation :) Social/AGM Your committee is busy planning a big social sometime in mid to late Feb. We're emailing some London radio stations to see about getting a tour, LaserQuest is being researched, and pub pub pub is a must. We'll also be having the AGM later in the term, another Beer&Biscuits style event, so stay tuned for details on that. After-hours studio access & show scheduling Anyone needing early morning/post-11pm access to the studio for shows, email me with your CID and I'll request access on your keycards with the Union. Also on shows, make sure you schedule your show in advance so that there's no confusion when people head to the station during an empty slot. Jingles and Radio Masterclass Assistant Station Manager Ronan will be heading up another jingles workshop this term, and we'll be having a refresher course on equipment and how to speak properly into the mikes etc too. DJ kit to rent If you know of anyone looking for a DJ/DJ equipment for a party or event, email our Disco Manager Gio at discos@icradio.com. We've got some awesome new speakers and all the gear and plenty of DJs at very reasonable prices, all to be advertised by Head of Promotions Alex soon! Be nice to our equipment! NEVER EVER turn off the computers in the studio or in the office. They keep our servers running which keeps the station running and keeps our Technical Manager stress-free.
