Hi
all,
There's no easy way
to say this, but Alice (our beloved broadcast studio sound desk) is in a very
bad way. Walking down the steps into the basement earlier I thought some
kind of crazy gunfire was going on in stoic, either being filmed or actually
happening, turned out it was Alice throwing one HELLuva tantrum
through the studio monitors. Part of the power supply circuit has
exploded, and until it's fixed there's no way for any shows to be broadcast
live.
Rich and I are
hopefully going to get into labs tomorrow to try and fix this, so we may even be
OK by the start of the weekend, but we could potentially be off air for a lot
longer if more work needs doing as Rich/I don't have a lot of time with exams
atm. I have had to cancel today's and tomorrow's shows.
A couple more
things...
DON'T GO INTO THE
INTERVIEW STUDIO! Bits of Alice are lying everywhere where I have started
to dismantle things, it is VERY important that you don't go in as there are some
beasty capacitors in the power supply that store up a lethal amount of charge,
if you touch the wrong thing it will hurt!!
HAS ANYONE LOST A
WATCH? I found a brown Next watch on the floor in the interview studio, it
is now in the broadcast studio by the Rivendell monitors.
SUSTAIN IS STILL
WORKING as it does not go through Alice when we're off air, so if anyone wants
to record a show at home or wherever and fileexchange a wave file to me to
play out when your show is scheduled for, that would work, let me
know.
I'll keep you
posted. If you're a EEE student and fancy helping us out in labs tomorrow,
get in touch!
