Hey everyone! Thanks for signing up to the icradio mailing list– Imperial College’s student radio station. I'll try not to abuse my newfound emailing power too much, I know how quickly those inboxes fill up post-fresher's fair. A little introduction First and foremost we are a student radio station; broadcasting online, 24 hours a day. We have a sustain service which plays out music from our massive library, and people also come in to do their own shows. Over thirty years of IC Radio history means that the equipment and resources that we have are pretty unbeatable. Once you have joined the society the door is always open for you to use our gear! Doing a radio show Here at IC Radio we give you the opportunity to host (or co-host!) and produce your own radio show. We'll give you a weekly slot that's yours to cherish for the year, and you can schedule your show week by week if the Imperial workload ever gets you down. We'll give all the training you need - it's dead easy! If you want to do a show, head down to the membership part of this email, and then get going on our quick training session by emailing our Head of Programming, Chris, at programming@icradio.com<mailto:programming@icradio.com>. Radio isn’t the only thing that we do. We have a very well equipped recording studio which can be used for recording and/or broadcasting live sessions on the air. We are pretty unique to have such a facility as a student radio and we're planning on holding lots of live sessions this year. They are open for anyone to turn up to and watch, and are held in our “shared studio". If you are interested in getting involved with the recording side, then email Seth, our Production Manager, production@icradio.com<mailto:production@icradio.com>. A big part of being a radio station is of course the music that we play. We are constantly sent music from all the big labels (and also lots of independent artists) for your listening pleasure. We've also got lots of interviews that can be arranged with bands at all times of the year and you can get guest-listed to their gigs. All you music lovers, please get in contact with Erwan at music@icradio.com<mailto:music@icradio.com>. We’re all at Imperial and so our technical side to the station is pretty damn good! If you want to find out more from the technical side email our Technical Manager, Joe, at technical@icradio.com<mailto:technical@icradio.com> We also make a point of hiring out our equipment to parties and events so we buy new toys (and pay our license fees, etc), and there're always opportunities for budding DJ's to play some gigs. If you're keen to put your name down for this side of things, email our Disco Manager, Gio, at discos@icradio.com<mailto:discos@icradio.com> “So I’m interested in meeting you guys to find out more, what next?” We are going to have our social event from 7PM on Monday 22 October, our annual “Beer and Biscuits” night. This is a meet and greet where you can come along and have a chat to our committee and guzzle some free beer and soft drinks! For those of you who just can't wait until then, on Wednesday 10th October, we have the annual Student Radio Awards Nominations Party. This is as part of the national UK Student Radio Association. We've got a couple people entered for this year, so fingers crossed! Sign yourself up to the official Facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/383165148418889/?fref=ts Membership If you are already convinced that you want to join our amazing society then get yo'self some membership at https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/club-society-project-products/radi.... 10 pounds for unlimited studio access, a weekly show, free gigs, and much more!
