... the (pretty long) email you've been waiting for ...

Thanks to the amazing work of @Blanchard, Lancelot N and @Charalambous, Theo E (and many long evenings in the basement)

IC Radio is back.

I've split this email up into sections - feel free to skip those you don't care about (probably most of them).

What exactly have we brought back?

The actual IC Radio stream (can currently be accessed here while connected to the Imperial network/VPN)
The second IC Radio studio machine (monitor on the right) that takes care of:

Sustain (system that plays music while no one is hosting live)
Jingles (if anyone knows who Tom Baker is and why we have a jingle of his please let me know)

What have we got left to bring back (+ ETAs)

Access to IC Radio stream from outside the Imperial network (end of week)
Music license for streaming (end of week)
New/fixed audio interface for sustain & jingles (currently borrowing one from an ex-student - end of calendar year)
Original IC Radio website, including booking system (icradio.com - end of calendar year)
All your amazing shows (except @Popova, Magdalena yours was pretty whack - ASAP)

Key list

A few of you who have purchased membership have mentioned that you're unable to access the studio:

Only committee members will have access to the studio with their own cards - all other members will need to ask for Key List 2 at the Beit security booth (see diagram below)
The door by the disabled toilets doesn't work at all (we're trying to get this fixed), you have to enter through the shared studio (see diagram below - the door to the shared studio has to pushed quite hard)
It takes at least a week for your name to be added to the key list that security has (sorry, there's nothing I can do to speed this process up). The key list will be updated every Monday morning, with the update taking at least 5 days to come into effect (out of my control 🙁)
If you still don't have access after a week, let us know/if you need urgent access to the studio after buying membership email us (e.g. you need to host an external guest ASAP)

Booking a Slot

Slots can be booked for the 15th of November onwards on a first come first serve basis.

How:

Buy membership
Book your slot at least one week in advance here
Please wait for an email confirming that your slot has been booked

Tutorials/Orientations

I will be holding another orientation session on Thursday 11th November at 6pm. Sign up here.

Just your friendly reminder that IC Radio is not just for radio shows (I know it's in the name) - you're also welcome to record podcasts in the studio! Information on this will also be in the tutorial above.

To celebrate IC Radio being back, and to meet you all in person, we're going to host a social soon at Metric! Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement 👁
