Andrew, your station manager here. I'm going to keep this short - half of you probably don't remember signing up to this mailing list.*
Facilities & Orientation
IC Radio operates out of the West Basement (to your left under Beit when you're facing the Union). For some reason, Imperial has made it their top priority to make sure none of you know about the facilities down there. In particular, as part of becoming an
IC Radio member, you'll have access to the Radio Room and the Production Studio.
Both of these can be used in any way you please, including going live on the radio, recording a podcast or making music. To start with, we'll be hosting orientation sessions (membership not required) for the
Radio Room on the 19th and 26th of October at 6pm. Lance, our Production Studio Manager will also be holding a workshop for the
Production Studio on the 21st of October at 6pm. We'll be scheduling more down the road, so keep an eye out for them if you can't make these.
After attending one of these, and
buying membership, your name will be added to the key list for access, including slots to go on air. You'll also be able to broadcast on the radio remotely if you don't feel comfortable coming onto campus yet. Instructions for this are available
here. (You don't have to come to orientation to host remotely)
EGM
We will be holding an EGM on the 20th of October to elect remaining positions on committee. We'll send details out closer to the time on how to join this. If you would like to run for a position, drop us an email! The following roles are still open: Secretary,
Treasurer, Head of Programming and IT Manager.
Disco
My main aim as Station Manager this year (besides making sure the cold server room is actually cold) is to Bring Disco Back. Imperial used to have a Disco society that would host regular events in Metric. We're hoping to
start these up again and get some live music and DJing involved. If anyone wants to help organise or perform, drop us an email!
