Hi guys, Felix have a really snazzy website. And they want to help us advertise our shows by publishing them on their Media section. Basically all current shows will take it in turns to be featured on the site. We would REALLY appreciate it you could make sure that you have your DJ and Genre fields filled in. You can do this in the members section. We are going to give preference to shows that have filled in all the info about their show so its in your interest to log on and fill those fields in! You can put whatever you want for your genre (put everything if you play everything!) Hi, Just a quick reminder about the IC RADIO AGM tomorrow. If you are anything to do with radio then please, please come along! The society would die without it's committee and we desperately need new blood to come and step into the breach. We are starting at 7PM in the shared studio (next door to radio) tomorrow, Tuesday 15th March. Even if you don't want to run for anything then we still need you all to come down and vote. An email from Matt, the Media chair....: " Dear All, It’s AGM time of the year again, and that includes those for Exec Committees. “Hooray,” I hear you cry, “the biggest social event of the year is finally on us.” Biting sarcasm aside, the Media Executive is a small but important part of the union’s life, and important for the running of your beloved clubs. For those unaware, Media Exec represents Felix, Photosoc, Stoic, IC Radio and Magazine society at union meetings and fights tooth and nail for as much money for them as they possibly can, and that’s basically it. Working on the media exec is brilliant for anyone with - or who wants to gain - knowledge of all the various media societies, and is also brilliant if you, like me, for some inexplicable reason have a deep love of student politics. If you want to be a part of next year’s Media Executive, sign-up sheets are going on the door of the Felix Office this afternoon at 3pm (Monday 14th) for the positions of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. Put your name and 2 seconders down and come along to the meeting in the Felix back-office on Friday at 12 noon with your finest 5 minute pitch. Hello all, First off, can I wish you all a very happy Pancake Day. Hopefully you all got our email yesterday about cancelling the Radio Bar Night tonight. Unfortunately a number of our committee are struggling with time management and so we decided that it would be better to focus all effort into making sure that the AGM runs smoothly! THE AGM - Next Tuesday, 15/3/2011 - The Shared Studio We are entering into the most important time for IC RADIO, the elections for next years committee. A lot of our current committee are graduating this year and we really need people to step up! The roles that you can go for are: STATION MANAGER - In ultimate control of everything that happens at the station. You need to know how everything at the station works, ideally doing another committee job for a year or two before hand. Email manager(a)icradio.com for more details HEAD OF MUSIC - In charge of a team that looks through and reviews all the music we get into the station. Email music(a)icradio.com for more info TREASURER - A VERY important job. You will get training on how to do the job so no real previous experience is required, email manager(a)icradio.com for more info. TECHNICAL MANAGER - The position that keeps the station going. Our technical side has always been the real strength of IC RADIO and we have a history of great, committed tech manager who will always help each other out. Email technical(a)icradio.com for details HEAD OF PROGRAMMING - An extremely important job, you manage and run all of the radio content that we produce! Responsible for the initial training of new presenters and then for the weekly schedule. Email programming@icradio for details. DISCO MANAGER - In charge of making us SGI (self generated income), which is how we fund social events. Email manager(a)icradio.com HEAD OF PRODUCTION - In charge of our recording studio and live sessions. This has really exploded of the past two years and something I hope will continue when we are gone, email manager(a)icradio.com for details. HEAD OF PROMOTIONS - Promotions are an essential part of radio and something that can always be improved. Email manager(a)icradio.com if you have any ideas or have questions. SECRETARY - In charge of keeping minutes of committee meetings, a small role but one that is absolutely essential! Email manager(a)icradio.com SOCIAL SECRETARY - Organises social events for the station. Email manager(a)icradio.com There is a sign up sheet on the back of the main door into radio, if you want to go for a committee position then you can put your name down there. Don't be scared to write over the boxes, it was made far too small!If you can';t get someone to second you then just write your name down and I'll come along and second you ;) Equally if you're not sure then you can just stand from the floor on the actual night. So yeah, sorry about the length of this email but hopefully there's a bit mre information for you all. The main thing is that we need as many people to come down to the AGM as possible (to make it legitimate). There will be free beer and soft drinks, so why not!!! It is with regret that we have had to postpone tomorrows planned social one week to next Tuesday 15th March 8pm. We will be holding it in the shared studio and will also be our AGM and there will be free beer and other drinks. So come along even if you had never really considered becoming more involved in the society this is your chance! RADIO BAR NIGHT (and AGM)

Hi all, I hope that all is well IC RADIO are having a bar night in the Union Bar next Tuesday from 8pm. We have bought a keg, so free drinks for all members until it runs out! I've attached the BEAUTIFUL poster that Sanjay made us. We are also holding our AGM the following Tuesday (15th); this is your chance to stand for a committee position at the station and really have an influence in what direction it will go. Nomination sheets will be going up around the station over the next couple of days and we will send out emails giving more details about the positions that you can run for. >From a personal position, this year is my last at the station. I have been associated with IC RADIO for FIVE years now, and been a committee member for FOUR of those! I feel sad leaving the station behind, but we really have changed it for the better. If you are unsure about what/if you want to get more involved with radio then all I can say is go for it! It is something that you wont regret. An incentive for submitting your playlists!

Dear presenters, You will notice a change to our homepage. Shows that submit their playlists promptly will get featured as seen in the screenshot below. The idea being that first-time listeners will be able to discover shows that play music that they like. The images are retrieved automatically so please try to avoid typos when filling in your playlists. If the script can't find a matching piece of artwork, you won't get a link to your page. Having said that, it generally finds artwork for most artists (even if you are indie-r than indiana jones) Cheers Oli

ICRadio is down for Union Maintenence

Hi all, ICR has been turned off. This is because the union is conducting maintenance in the union over the next 24 hours which will involve turning off the power. Please be aware this affects all ICRadio services and as such, I advise you to wait until sunday evening to do any radio business. IC RADIO IMPORTANT

Hello all, Sorry about the little scare yesterday. First off, radio is back online. If you had a show planned for today then everything is running as normal. A little bit of information about what happened. Yesterday morning the Rector received a complaint from a "member of public" about offensive material on an IC RADIO show the night before. A guest on the show used the word "Paki". When I investigated it turns out that the word was directed at a friend who is usually on the show, however this has obviously been taken out of context. The offending show has since been taken off the website while it was off-line last night. I want to use this opportunity to remind everyone that they are responsible for what they (or anyone else on their show) says on air. Things that may seem like "banter" between friends may be taken another way by someone else that is listening in. As IC RADIO we are one of the media faces of the University - Something like this could really hurt the reputation of the establishment! Anyway, wrists slapped. The guest who made the comments has written an official apology to the Rector and the member of public, I have written an apology to the Rector. We understand that these things occasionally happen, and so, we are implementing a simple way for the show presenter to stop a radio show being uploaded to the website. If you think that there is something a little dodgy on the show then click this and it wont go up. Finally, just make sure that you use your common sense when making a broadcast. We all like to have fun but please don't ruin it for everyone else. Thanks Dan
