Hey Crocs, It was great to meet so many new faces at Beer n Biscuits last Thursday! Just got a couple reminders and notices for you this week. Induction notes: Thank you to everyone who came along to inductions this week! A PDF containing induction notes has been attached to this email! The induction notes are attached to this email. It would be beneficial for returning member to read these through as a couple things have changed this year. The main things to note are: * You will receive an email on the day of your show, please read this email and follow the instructions to confirm your attendance. This email will also allow you to opt in/out of an automatic upload of a recording of your show to the SoundCloud archive. * Please use the radio Spotify account and look up your playlist from there - save it as "your show name - show date". This is so listeners can find your show on demand, and will increase engagement with IC Radio and improve listener counts! * We have a key card at Beit Security, all members will be on the key list. * Buy membership here<https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/csp/radio/radio-membership-23-24> ASAP, it takes a week or so for the list to be updated. * Message the WhatsApp chat with any urgent issues. Schedule: The new schedule is already up on the website. Jingle competition: Jingles are a big part of radio broadcast advertising and as we lost all the old jingles in a system crash last year, we need a new standard IC Radio jingle. The winning jingle will be catchy and original, and clearly advertise the station. Submissions must be sent to icr(a)ic.ac.uk as an mp3 file. Drop-in Sessions: We will be hosting weekly socials every Wednesday evening, 8 till late, starting next week 25th October. These will be vibey socials in the shared studio space adjoining the station. Hey Crocs!! Just emailing to remind you about Beer and Biscuits tomorrow! Come find us outside 568 (rather than Union Bar). We will be there from 7pm and later we will head down to the studio to pop some tunes on – so if you’re arriving late, try the basement. Also, look out for ICRadio stickers around campus!! You can grab some from the committee - get sticker bombing ICL!! We are running inductions at 12 and 17 every day next week (9th to 13th Oct). A committee member will meet you outside West Basement and show you around the studio. It only takes 15-20 min. I’ve put all the start of year admin at the end of the email as there are a couple cool things I wanted to flag at the start – most importantly the return of Beer and Biscuits - so please read to the end! Beer and Biscuits!!! 🗓️ Thursday 12th Oct ⏰ 19:00 till 22:00 📍 Union Bar, followed by the studio. If you’re new, this traditional social is exactly what is says on the tin - there will be 🍺 (and non-alcoholic alternatives) and there will be 🍪. This is a chance to meet other crocodilian radio fanatics, quiz the committee on what’s coming up for the year and chill out with some tunes!🐊 😎 Are you a DJ? DJing with IC Radio extends beyond shows on the station, we want to support our community of DJs in sharing their sets with a wider audience, with opportunities ranging from Modulate discos to drop-in studio sessions and tiny desk concerts. Studio inductions – all members need to do this before booking a show. We will be running inductions over the next two weeks, sign up here. Meet outside Beit West Basement. Finding us The studio is in the West Basement of Beit – turn left as you enter the quad, go inside the building and down the stairs, continue straight down the corridor and the studio is on your right. Studio access We are trying to sort a key card and list of members system with the union and will update when this is sorted. But for now, the studio door will be left open – you can close it whilst you are running your show, but please prop the door open when you leave. Membership 🐊 IC Radio membership is rather reasonable £12 per year, and you can buy that here<https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/csp/radio/radio-membership-23-24>. NB you must have radio membership to access all our equipment and book a slot on the air. Burton, our head of programming, will review all bookings and update you on how the schedule turns out. Please fill this out promptly as later submissions may not be accommodated with their first choices. There is no preferential treatment to returning shows this year. We aim to make it fair for everyone, so we may resort to a fortnightly schedule if slots are in high demand. As a student campus radio, we want our programming to reflect the diversity of the people and interests found on campus, so we want a range of shows on IC Radio from STEM podcasts to underground DJ-sets to pop-culture chat shows and sporting debates.
