Manifestos + more
We have received a whopping two manifesto submissions in advance of this Wednesday's AGM, and these are listed below (along with some other committee positions I forgot to mention in the last email). If you haven't submitted a manifesto but still want to run for a position on next year's committee, that's ok! Anyone with IC Radio membership can stand for a position during the AGM itself (reminder: the AGM is this Wednesday, 5pm, in the Shared Studio in West Basement).
Treasurer
Raul Adriaensen
This year I am looking to grow in the role of treasurer from junior to senior. Having this experience will be looking to shift my focus from learning the role to building upon it. Going into my second year I will be looking to: 1. Improve the radio treasuring documents to facilitate handovers and allow new treasurers to focus on progress instead of learning 2. Build upon the current budget and find funding for previously done activities 3. Find how to generate an income to grow our budget yearly instead of it falling since 2015 except for this final year in which it balanced. 4. Push to make committee more active, if everyone is motivated to fulfil their role radio can start to grow again and popularise. Outside of my role of treasurer I have taken financial courses and have familiarised myself with union procedures, committee meetings, constitutional changes meetings, radio licences and past trips records which will be of use to assist other roles. As treasurer you see beyond what radio is on the outside and see how it can function and stays healthy on the accounts. I want to keep this going. Long live the crock!
Head of Publicity
Zoe Chu
Although I've only been with IC radio for a short time, I hope to share the fun I've had this year with more people and never again hear the dreaded words 'we have a radio station???'
My main aims as Head of Publicity will be to:
* Increase our social media presence and support our weekly shows by posting a daily radio schedule on Instagram and Facebook. If any show has any special guest or event that they want to promote, I will also be their first point of call in getting the word around campus – both online and offline.
* Put IC radio on the map by collaborating with other societies and help them publicise their own events – e.g. gallery openings, concerts, shows, Varsity etc. This will be achieved both by actively contacting different societies and providing an opportunity for societies and students to contact us.
* Help the social secretary create more of an open and collaborative community in IC radio – more social events throughout the year.
* I’d love to re-implement the IC radio wide collaboration by having a 24-hour charity radio marathon involving as many radio show hosts as possible.
* Spam freshers fair with IC Radio posters and make people aware of the society, using my sweet editing skills (See below).
Let the croc be heard again,
Big love,
Zoe

Other positions
Due to secretarial oversight, some committee positions that are up for election were not listed in the previous AGM email (the most shameful of these omissions being Head of Music at a student radio station). These are listed below:
Deputy Station Manager
While this role has no specific remit, the Deputy Station Manager is responsible for assisting the Station Manager with any Station Manager-esque stuff they may need assistance with. Get in touch with current DSM William (william.micou15(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:william.micou15@imperial.ac.uk>) to find out more about this role.
Head of Music (+ Deputy)
The sustain play list you (are supposed to) hear when there are no shows on is curated by the Head of Music, who is responsible for ensuring that the music selection is up to date and enjoyable to listen to. They are also responsible for looking after IC Radio's vast collection of CDs and vinyl. The role of Deputy Head of Music is also available (responsible for assisting the Head of Music with music stuff). Get in touch with current Head of Music Alex (alexander.mitcham15(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:alexander.mitcham15@imperial.ac.uk>) to find out more about this role.
Long live the croc,
Michael Hain

IC Radio AGM
The IC Radio AGM will be held on Wednesday 20th March at 5pm in the Shared Studio, West Basement, and is your opportunity to pour the waters of change onto the mixing desk of the status quo (read: be elected to the IC Radio committee and make cool stuff happen, such as introducing recording workshops or upgrading the website). The following positions are up for election:
Station Manager
Treasurer
Secretary
Head of Training
Head of Programming
Head of Production
Head of Publicity
Social Secretary
Technical Manager
IT Manager
Station Manager
In ultimate control of everything that happens at the station, and a great position to be in if you want to implement some change! Your job is to make sure everything runs smoothly. Email Thanos (av2514(a)ic.ac.uk<mailto:av2514@ic.ac.uk>) to find out more about this role.
Treasurer
As Treasurer you gain a different and deeper understanding of the society, you see its foundations, get to know its health and what the possibilities are. I have personally learned a lot from the role as treasurer and been able to enjoy some varied opportunities offered by radio such as presenting gigs, using the radio studio, mixers, etc… As Treasurer expect to be an active member working together with the station manager to keep the society running. Your major responsibilities will be to manage claims during term time, improve upon the budgeting for the coming year and guarantee all licenses are paid for on time to keep the station up and running. Email Raul (raul.adriaensen17(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:raul.adriaensen17@imperial.ac.uk>) to find out more about this role.
Secretary
The role of secretary involves organising committee meetings, taking and publishing minutes of said meetings, booking rooms etc and generally being the organisational hub of IC Radio. Should you be elected Secretary and achieve any one of these things, you will already be doing infinitely better than me. Email me (michael.hain16(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:michael.hain16@imperial.ac.uk>) to find out more about this role.
Head of Training
The Head of Training role is fundamental to keeping IC Radio alive and sounding good. As head of training you will often be the first person people meet in IC Radio, and it is your job to organise training sessions and ensure that everyone who uses the studio understands how to operate the various pieces of equipment housed within it and keep them dry. This position is currently, so email Thanos or myself (listed above) about this role.
Head of Programming
Head of Programming is responsible for managing the IC Radio schedule. While this principally involves assigning slots to shows once their presenters are trained in the studio, this can also involve booking time for recording sessions and ensuring that popular slots are used regularly (for instance Adventures In Groove's Wednesday 7pm-8pm slot, which has been irresponsibly tacit since late last year). Email Andy (andrew.djaba14(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:andrew.djaba14@imperial.ac.uk>) to find out more about this role.
Head of Production
Responsible for maintaining the recording studio (or finding someone who can) as well as coordinating recording sessions and workshops in collaboration with Live Music Soc and MusicTech horizons. Being in charge of a room and being able to do whatever you want with it is super fun and being in charge of a "business" can only be good on your CV but this doesn't need to be a big position, you can put in as much time as you want. This position does not require technical knowledge of the equipment (honestly) and involves making money. Email Adam Collins (adam.collins15(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:adam.collins15@imperial.ac.uk>) to find out more about this role.
Head of Publicity
Get the word out! Raise awareness of IC Radio. That’s your job. There’s no point to radio if no one is listening to it. As head of Publicity you need to advertise IC Radio. Design posters for radio events, banners for shows, merch for society members and generally telling everyone you meet that there is a great student radio based here at Imperial. Whoever is elected to this role has the power to end the dreaded "Wow, we have a radio station?" response to IC Radio-related conversation once and for all. This role is currently vacant, so email me or Thanos to find out more about this role.
Social Secretary
Who said sitting in a room talking to yourself for long periods of time was antisocial? This year we had no social secretary, and I am sure that the 3 other people who attended this year's only social with me (these numbers are real) would agree that this was less than ideal. As social secretary you'll have the opportunity to bring together a network of people who love listening to and creating great radio. As mentioned, there is no social sec right now, so email me or Thanos if you want to find out more about this role.
Technical Manager
IC Radio has a lot of tech (microphones, headphones, miscellaneous recording gear, you name it, we've got it lying unloved somewhere in West Basement), and the Technical Manager is responsible for making sure it all works and is up to date (this can vary from getting custom crocodile slipmats for the turntables to buying new microphones for the studio). Email Tejasva (tejasva.malhotra17(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:tejasva.malhotra17@imperial.ac.uk>) for more information on this role.
IT Manager
The IT Manager is responsible for making sure the PCs, servers, and any services that run on them (e.g. our website) that IC Radio relies on are working. This includes keeping them up to date, troubleshooting and fixing issues, as well as thinking of ways to improve them. Email Fraser (fraser.may17(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:fraser.may17@imperial.ac.uk>) to find out more about this role.
Should you wish to nominate yourself for a role, send an email saying which role you wish to be nominated for and a short manifesto on what you would bring to the role to icrsecretary(a)ic.ac.uk<mailto:icrsecretary@ic.ac.uk> before next Friday (16th March). Note: it is also possible to nominate yourself for a role during the AGM itself. Current Station Manager Thanos Vlontzos will be the returning officer.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions about the AGM (or IC Radio in general).
Long live the croc,
Michael Hain
