Hi all, Hope you all had a chance to take a break during the summer and now feeling refreshed for the new year! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Michael, your Head of Programming for the next year and I bring you news on how to do a show in our brand new studio! So pay attention... There's a few quick questions with some information about the show and your availability. We are predominantly going to put all specialists show after 6pm, so please bear that in mind when you fill in the form. Any questions, please drop me a line :) It would be great if you can fill this in as soon as possible, ideally before the weekend so our schedule will be in place! Flagship Show This year we are planning to bring back the "flagship show", which is going to be a "magazine" style show with music, chat, news and hopefully interviews with sabbs, lecturers, staff, or even BoJo (think big!). Everyone who is a part of IC Radio can take part in the show, but at this stage, we are looking for some people who are keen to take a more prominent role of being there every week with me. If this sounds like your cup of tea, drop me an email and we can chat more over an actual cup of tea! One more thing - setting up the new studio! The refurbished West Basement is looking very beautiful and our new studio is taking shape. But there are still many tasks left to do in the final week before all the Freshers arrive. Hello radioers, Firstly, big thank you to everyone who helped with the unboxing -- to my knowledge everything has been finished a day before the deadline *cheers*. What is Battle of the Societies? * A hotly contested, inter-society quiz night run by the Charity Week every year to raise money for Orphans and Needy Children. What can my society gain from entering? * A chance for your newer members to socialise and get to know each other * A fantastic networking opportunity - last year over 20 societies participated, including societies from other Universities! * A prize for the winning team * Unity for a great cause How do I join? Is there any cost? * There is absolutely NO cost for entering your society - simply reply to this email saying you would like to enter your society into BOTS & start assembling your strongest team! * On the night there will be an entry fee of £5 per person - of which every penny goes towards Humanitarian Relief * Whilst there is no maximum number of participants per society (the more the merrier! Bring supporters!) we suggest a minimum of 5 participants per society due to the nature of the quiz Last year Imperial’s Charity Week effort raised almost £70,000 in this one week, all of which went towards humanitarian aid of orphans and needy children worldwide, independent of their race, gender or religious affiliation. A Few of My Radio Things

Hi all, A few brief reminders. Everyone on facebook should join the "media crew" group on fb for co-ordinated updates from me and other friends. This week we need to unpack boxes from Tuesday onwards -- so pop down whenever you can and someone will tell you how to make yourself useful. The next thing is freshers' fair, and so far only me and our lovely secretary grace have signed up to man the freshers' desk. THIS YEAR WE'RE LIKELY TO BE OUTSIDE METRIC IN THE BRIGHT SUNSHINE. We need people to take bright eyed young freshers on tours around our lovely new studio and also smile sweetly and get them to sign up to our mailing lists/buy memberships. The final thing is Freshers week itself -- Jamie of Jazz and Rock has asked for our help setting up, compering and essentially being REALLY USEFUL PEOPLE who get to have a good time at the Lite Mingle. Monday and Tuesday

Hi all, First and easiest bit of the Resurrection of the West Basement -- from this Monday and Tuesday all those crates we lovingly packed will be returning and they all need *emptying* at least, but hopefully also sorting, by the following Sunday, at which point our lease on the crates expires. Pre-term cool interesting stuff

Hey RADIOLOVERS, I am station manager for next year -- let's all be friends. A couple of pre-term things: 1) Buy membership! https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/club-society-project-products/rad… 2) Who can help out during Freshers' fair, on the 7th? We just need a few people on rotation over the day at the ICRadio stall (which this year we have big plans for!) and also we were thinking of running tours of the studio at half hour intervals like you might find in some historical attraction so we can wow freshers with all our shiny new gear. 3) THE BIG ONE We need people to help refit the studio -- From the 21st of September onwards. I'm sure we all remember fondly all those boxes we filled? Well we need to unfill them in a meaningful way and make sure everything works before the end of Freshers' week. It'll be fun and I'll get us lots of pizza. However I am in a UROP until the 28th but I PROMISE I will work doubly hard to catch up with all your hard work, more news on this soon. 4) Does anyone want to be Music Editor for Felix? There isn't one this year, and if someone from Radio does it we could get priority advertising and reviews of our shows so this would be awesome someone do it please. Enjoy your summers! Eamonn
