Hi Radio Folks, A brief message from your Technical Manager! I've recently implemented a few changes, such as: 1. Changing the live streaming system to make it easier to listen to shows on air. 2. Several people have missed shows lately (or been affected by the recent power cut). If this includes you please use the new "Request Show Deletion" module in the members area to submit a show episode and a reason. If approved this should be dealt with within a few days. 3. Sustain does occasionally have tantrums, so if you see any problems please feel free to email me at "technical(a)icradio.com". These problems can often be easily fixed remotely. Beit Power shutdown - Thursday - 7/2/13 - 10.00 to 11.30 hours

Hey everyone! Some important updates below: Power-cut and keycard access There's a power cut tomorrow morning across Beit Quad from 10 am to 11:30 am - if this affects your show and you would like a once-off rescheduling to later in the day or over the weekend, let me know! Apologies for not letting you know sooner! Anyone who asked for early-morning/late-night access, this should be now active for you, as is the keycard attached to our key. Let me know if you have any difficulties! DJ kit to rent If you know of anyone looking for a DJ/DJ equipment for a party or event, email our Disco Manager Gio at discos(a)icradio.com. We've got some awesome new speakers and all the gear and plenty of DJs at very reasonable prices, all to be advertised by Head of Promotions Alex soon! RBS Youtube Video I've been bopping around the past few days with a camera filming your antics for this. If you'd like me to come along to your show specifically or if you have any filming ideas, let me know! ICU Cinema The lads over at ICU Cinema are still looking for radio people to throw them a playlist or short 10-20 minute segments to play as people take their seats before the films. Please note that the outage will not affect the North Wing, Union however the basements of the East and West will be affected. Alex I understand is making arrangements to deal with this now regarding the Student Production offices and meeting rooms. Items we discussed as follow: Lifts will be grounded – please ensure notices are used and students informed that they cannot use lifts for 09.30 to 11.30 hours. I understand that you will be making arrangements for mobility impaired students to remain outside of the building. Hot and cold water – will not be available, therefore any showers should be completed by 09.00 hours, any abolitions involving the toilet facilities should be completed by 09.30 too. Please ensure that students understand that water taps must be closed and toilets cannot be flushed between these times. Heating – will be affected during this period, however this complies with the agreed Winter period space heating requirements. Laundry Facilities – Not to be used after 09.30 hours. All power will cease – therefore all electrical sockets will not function for lamps, PC’s, electrical appliances, fridges/freezers (please ensure the latter items doors are kept shut in order to maintain the cold temperatures required for food storage). Lighting - will not function other than emergency lighting, therefore the lighting levels will be very low. I would encourage students and occupants not to move around the halls and either depart by 09.30 or stay in their rooms. Kitchens – will be out of bounds for students, however Resource have agreed via Philip Warden to allow the cleaning staff access to clear kitchens and rubbish only, all staff must be briefed regarding the conditions they are working in for this period of time. If there are any concerns then these must be risk assessed by Resource in liaison with ourselves. Access control and the Fire Panel – will be maintained throughout. Security Monitoring – will be unaffected and additional guards will be available if required. Please ensure those affected area informed, any further queries then please advise? Jingle boogie

Dear Radio Lovers, Don't excuse the pun, it was wicked. As Aislinn said in her beautifully coloured email, I will be running more jingle sessions in order for you to: * Record some beds which you can talk over and put these up on the touchscreen (so much easier than fiddling with a CD) * Record top-quality (yes we will aim high) jingles that can be played when sustain is on and ones you may just want to play on your show. * Be the voice behind the new,flagship "You're listening to ICRadio" jingle. If you are feeling brave enough.. Bring sound effects, ideas, CDs, ipods, willing friends who have cool accents and anything imaginative you can find (a mandolin!?). Regarding time, just email me and we will set a time to meet in small groups; it is a bit of a mess getting everyone to record at the same time.
