Ladies & Gents of radio I hope everyone's 2nd term and radio shows are going well! Just a reminder that as the radio promotions guy i'm always on hand to stick up posters, hand out leaflets and generally spread the good radio word. It doesn't matter how unprofessional your promo materials look, any exposure is good, so just send them my way. Be as creative as you want, just remember to put the union logo on the posters somewhere... I've seen some great show names on the schedule recently so the scope for creativity is huge (Shatners bassoon i'm looking at you) Cheers, Alex Head of promotions

Studio Spruce up Synopsis

Hello everyone! Thanks very much to everybody who came to help tidy today! Please keep it this way or face our WRATH. Radio Studio The studio is now a 'clutter free zone' If it isn't plugged in, it shouldn't be in there. This includes CDs. Production Studio Another clutter free zone. Keep it this way please, cables and the like can be found in the cabinets. 'Spare' mixing desks are now next to the server between the two studios. Office Put any post in the post shelf please, the filing cabinets are now sorted (ish) and the whiteboard is writeable on. The other one is going up on the wall next to it. The speakers now play the radio output, not the radio Alice output (subtle difference). Shared performance space Has been hoovered. STOIC owe me a pint. Talkback Talkback system now works, thanks to Keir/Max. Feel free to amuse yourself by talking to various parts of the studio using it. CDs Please put back in the correct place. I know Joe is in the process of releasing the digital catalogue for your browsing pleasure. Lots of CDs do need cataloguing and digitising. Long term project ahoy! Interview Room Was already spotless. Go those who use it :) Decoration We didn't get much in the way of studio decoration done. It'd be nice to take down some old and boring posters/notices and replace them with newer ones. If you'd like to donate anything to go up, please do so! Oh and the pizza was lovely. SRA CONFERENCE

Hello All, As per yesterday, I'm touting tickets for the Student Radio Conference. Apologies to all of you who got back in touch to say you want to come for spamming you again. One thing I didn't mention yesterday was that although ticket sales close on Thursday, You don't need to pay yet. You just need to confirm with me that you want to come along. Radio will then buy all the tickets for you and then you all pay us back, so if your only excuse for not signing up yet is that you don't have the £129 at the moment, you don't have that excuse anymore! Also I should stress that the £129 covers the Bed and Board as well. Also there are tickets available for those (if you live near Leicester) who don't want accommodation which are cheaper. Let me know if you're interested in those ones specifically. So yes, email me to confirm that you want to come along. This is a brilliant opportunity to have a bit of fun over Easter. SRA Conference, and why you should go.

Hey All, As Aislinn has mentioned a few times in the announce emails, the Student Radio Conference is 2nd - 4th of April TICKET SALES CLOSE IN 4 DAYS. This year it's in Leicester and below are a few reasons as to why it's totally rad and you should consider going: · It's a massive party for 3 nights in a different town with a load of people who love Radio · It's a great way to get inspiration for your shows/presenting · If you're even remotely interested in a career in radio, you can learn so much o You will also meet most of the people who will be instrumental in getting you through the door from both commercial radio (i.e Galaxy) and The BBC · It's not all about entertainment style music shows, there will be people there from sports broadcasting, scripted broadcasting, documentary and comedy shows. · It's a massive party for 3 nights in a different town with a load of people who love radio · Free Breakfast for 3 days. · IC Radio alumni and now BBC R1 Assistant Producer Roushan will be there and will help you make all the introductions you could possibly need. He'll also be doing a talk on how to get into the radio industry as a recent entrant which will be cool. · It's a massive party for 3 nights in a different town with a load of people who love radio I went 3 years ago and had a great time, we sort of forgot to go the last couple of years (one of them was at the university of Hertfordshire and a massive party for 3 days in Hatfield didn't seem that tempting) but this year we want to hit it up with a big contingent of us. The big media universities like Leeds, Nottingham and York always have huge armies of people and we want to have a decent sized crew ourselves. So yeah if you're up for a massive party for 3 days in a different town with a load of people who love radio, reply to me ASAP (matthew.allinson07(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:matthew.allinson07@imperial.ac.uk>) and I'll co-ordinate sorting it out. It's £129 per person a ticket. (Train Tickets are £22.40 with a young person's railcard) We might be able to subsidise entry a little bit, we'll have to see on the numbers. Studio clean up and FREE PIZZA

Hello! On Wednesday the 27th February we are holding a studio tidy up/music sort out/FREE PIZZA session. As you may have noticed the studio is a little messy, but many hands make light work so it would be great if you could come down to help tidy up. We're going to sort out the recording room, mixing room, office area, studio and interview room and hopefully even catalogue some of the CD backlog (on that note the digital catalogue is currently being recovered from the old server, watch this space). To thank everyone who turns up, we're going to order as much pizza as we possibly can for everyone to eat. So come on down, say hi to your fellow DJs, tidy our studio and eat free pizza. AGM 5th of March & Varsity 13th of March

Hey everyone! Exciting stuff coming up in the next few weeks! AGM - Tues 5th of March, Beer & Biscuits Round 2! We'll be having our elections for next year's committee, accompanied by free beer & soft drinks & munchies and the usual banter. Please come along, as we need as many of our members as possible to make it legitimate! The roles you can go for are: STATION MANAGER - In ultimate control of everything that happens at the station, and a great position to be in if you want to implement some change! HEAD OF MUSIC - In charge of our team that looks through and reviews all the music we get into the station, and in charge of the music we play on sustain. Our technical side has always been the real strength of IC Radio and we have a history of great, committed tech managers who will always help each other out. Responsible for the initial training of new presenters and then for the weekly schedule. Email programming(a)icradio.com HEAD OF PRODUCTION - In charge of our recording studio and live sessions. This has been a constant area of growth within the station, and a pretty exciting job. Email production(a)icradio.com DISCO MANAGER - In charge of making us SGI (self-generated income) by renting out our DJ equipment, which is how we fund social events. Email discos(a)icradio.com HEAD OF PROMOTIONS - Promotions are an essential part of radio and something that can always be improved, so you'll be our go-to guy (or gal) for publicity! Email promotions(a)icradio.com SECRETARY - In charge of keeping minutes at the committee meetings, a small role but absolutely essential, and a good place to be if you want to contribute without doing too much work ;) Email secretary(a)icradio.com SOCIAL SECRETARY - Organises social events at the station in conjunction with the committee. ASSISTANT STATION MANAGER - Anyone who wants to be involved in the committee in a more general way should apply here! Nominations are now open, see the sign-up sheet at the station door. The floor will be open on the night too so if you're not sure come along anyway! I became station manager two years ago (good lord) on the night, so anything can happen! Varsity, Wednesday 13th of March We'll be covering Varsity this year for the first time in about 3 or 4 years, in conjunction with a big Media extravaganza organised by STOIC. We'll be grabbing a minibus (driven by yours truly, but don't let that put you off) and heading over for the day like the big media nerds we are.
