ICR promotions

Hi guys Hopefully everyone who wants a show etc has one and they're all going well, now is the time to get promoting! We can do this in a number of ways: 1. POSTERS: Anyone can put up posters promoting their show or you can send them my way and i'll help. Just bear in mind two things. They MUST have the imperial union logo on them and MUST be stuck up with blue tack (no sellotape). I've already used up our only warning on this front (woops) so next time the station get's a fine. 2. THE SNAP: This is the 10 page 'zine i put together for the Fresher's Fair that hopefully encouraged lots of you to join! I want to get a second edition on the go containing the schedule and show descriptions. A show description can be as little or as much as you want: Who you are, when you're on, what tunes you play and all the hijinks in your show! It can be just a line or two or a fully fledged feature like this https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Bt2ls3ilWcRvmtRj69uVnLuadeUaO0uMpdINFQ1… . So send me any details, pictures etc you want included and it'll go in the 'zine. 3. Felix: I'm going to try get an article in felix, again promoting shows, so for this send me a one or two line description, something short and snappy that sums up your show real quick for the reader. 4. AER Lingus competition: So this is a bit of a random one but the station has been approached with a competition offer: Two free flights on AER Lingus' new route London to Belfast for us to give away as part of a promotional competition for the airline. The format we're thinking is 4 questions spread over different shows in a week all at a specific time e.g Q1 6pm Monday, Q2 6pm Wednesday etc. Now there has been some interest in this and the time is yet to be decided but if you're interested in hosting a question on your show then message me ASAP. We'll hope to promote this competition a lot around campus so it's a great way to boost the listener numbers of your show. There we have it! I want to get in Felix and have the 'zine out within 2 weeks so if you could get show descriptions to me within a week that'd be sweet. AER Lingus stuff, get in touch! Cheers Alex Head Of Promotions

Hey radio-lovers! I hope everyone enjoyed Beer & Biscuits last night! I was the cripple girl with major swag wandering around shoving cookies and beers in everyone's faces. Here are a few bits and pieces that I forgot to mention in my impromptu and very rambly speech last night... Student Radio Awards Hell yes we've been nominated!! Last year's IC Radio enthusiast Jen Whyntie earned us a nomination in the category of Best Speech Programming - the fourth year running that we've been nominated and, fingers crossed, the second year in a row that we win! The night will be a black-tie event<http://www.studentradioawards.co.uk/awardsevening> in the O2 on Thursday 8th November, hosted by Nick Grimshaw of BBC Radio 1 and Dave Berry of Capital London. The awards are super prestigious and a whole lot of fun, and IC Radio are going to subsidise your tickets!! If you're interested, please email me ASAP so I can get an idea of numbers! FREE Advertising with ICU Cinema The wonderful lads over at ICU Cinema have asked us to provide the pre-show entertainment for their films. Myself and my co-host have provided a mostly music set with some sneaky IC Radio jingles and show adverts already. If you'd like to contribute any sets, of perhaps about 10-30 minutes in length, email me for the deets (and how to record!) at manager(a)icradio.com! Jingles session with Ronan! The details are yet to be confirmed, but we'll be having a free all-inclusive jingles session for you show-hosts in the coming weeks. We'll record you in the studio, feel free to bring ideas/backing tracks/instrumentals/GarageBand edits, and we'll take it from there! THE TIME HAS COME.... for FREEEEEEEE Beer & Biscuits!!! >From 7PM this Monday 22 October, in the Physics Common Room, Level 8 in the Blackett building! This room has a kick-ass outdoor balcony and is a traditional funspot for IC Radio. Come along to meet our committee and fellow members, guzzle some free beer, soft drinks, and biscuits!!! Our usual terrific music system will be set up for mixing action and classic tunes, and we'll be running a jingle-orientated "Voice of IC Radio" competition during the evening... And the IC Radio crocodile mascot will be wandering around causing havoc too! There is time in the show to "show off" our station - I have a few ideas already but would like to hear what you guys think!
