Hey everyone, Thanks so much to everyone for coming to our Beer & Biscuits last night! It was definitely a success and a great way to kick off the year! Okay guys, so here's the link for getting membership, and then we can get you guys doing more fun radio things ASAP: http://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/radio-211/radio-membership/ To get a show once you've paid your membership, our Head of Programming, Sophie, will be emailing the "presenters" mailing list with the details. If you think you're not on this list and would like a show, email me ASAP and I'll get you on there! People who want to be on the music team, you should be on music mailing list - let me know if you're not! And likewise for technical and production (i.e. live sessions). As for more fun events, another party tomorrow night! On Wednesday 12th October we have the "I Love Student Radio Training Day" follwed by the annual SRA Nominations Party. The training day is being attended by professional radio names like Mark Crossley (Absolute), Maddii Lown (Newsbeat), Emma Stephens (BBC Radio 1xtra), and the nominations party is where we'll find out if any of our entries from last year have been nominated for awards!! The after-party is being held in a Camden club and is open to anyone who would like to attend – http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=149523271808165 Personally, I'm just going to the after-party, but people are more than welcome to go to the full Training Day. Party starts at 6.30 pm, so shall we say to meet at Beit entrance at 6pm anyone who wants to go together and we'll get the tube! I'm E-mailing you about something ridiculously exciting. I was invited to BBC 1xtra yesterday to talk about building a relationship between 1xtra and Student Radio in London and EA. It turns out that they really want to get students involved in the station and also get them on-air! This will probably start happening in early 2012 as we are in discussions about the nature of On-Air content. However, I have asked if they could run tours around the Radio 1 building as a start and this will most likely be starting before december. I'll get in touch about the tours when I have more info. Basically I am trying to find some talent, from within your stations, that you think would be relevant to the BBC Radio 1xtra audience. I'm looking for DJ's, Urban music presenters and anyone that fits the bill. I will then put these people forward to Rebecca Frank, an executive producer at 1xtra. I would be really grateful if you could send me... -The name's of 3 or 4 suitable people from your station -A short biog about them/their show -A 2-3 minute audio demo of their material -The time their show actually broadcasts I understand that not all of your stations will have finished schedules yet, so just send me as much of the above as you can. It is still very early days at the moment. Needless to say this will be a massive opportunity for all of student radio, your station and especially the individuals involved with the On-Air aspect.
