Hi, hope things are good icradio are having a special place in FELIX this week, a preview of the shows coming up this year. What I need from ALL show hosts is a little paragraph that sums up what you do. It doesn't need to be anything unbelievable, just a summery of your show. I need this by TUESDAY NIGHT. If you want a show but haven't got it sorted yet then: First, get membership ( https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/radio-211/radio-membership/product.html ) Second, email Ramy ( programming(a)icradio.com ) Third, show I will be putting together this years first "key list" (there will be more to follow), so if you want access to the station yourself it's best to get on this asap. [To all those who've heard the story before, sorry for the spam...] Thanks to everyone who came down for Beer and Biscuits! was great to see all the fresh enthusiasm! Here's the part where i give you the chance to be on my lovely mailing list where i let you know about gigs you can go to review (for free!), possible interviews and generally talk about reviewing the music coming in and getting it on our system! So whether you wanna discover loads of new artists or simply go see bands you like for free, let me know and i'll keep you posted about all the cool stuff coming up! Finally, gotta get together and get cracking on making radio sound awesome while show's aren't on, so will be holding our first Music Team meeting this week (i'm thinking thursday or friday lunchtime but will confirm for sure!) That's about it.. basically, great stuff comming up for whoever wants to join - and doesn't get in the way of you presenting a show or doing anything else within radio. Hi, Thanks to everyone who came along to the event last night. Hopefully you all had a good time and got to chat to a few radio people. It's all free and will be a good night! Come to the Level 8 common room in the Physics building from 7PM (its the last building on Prince Consort Road). icradio - This week

Hello all, Just a little reminder of all the things that we have coming up this week with icradio. If you are undecided about joining our society then these are the perfect opportunities to see what we're all about. Tuesday (12th) Session - Sparrow and The Workshop Join us from 12 midday in the shared studio (west beit basement) for first session of the year Wednesday (13th) Session - Talk to Angels Second session of the year, starts at 14.00 - shared studio SRA Nominations Party Big super fun night out in East London. A great opportunity to have a drink with fellow radio people as we hopefully get loads of nominations to the SRA Student Radio Awards! Meet at the Union (Beit quad) at 18.00 If you are planning on coming with us then can you email me by tomorrow night (Tuesday) latest as we need to put forward a guest list. Thursday (14th) Beer and Biscuits This is the big one, the main chance that our committee gets to meet potential new radio members. Come along to the level 8 Physics Department common room from 7pm for free drinks and good times. If you can't come to anything else then this is the one you should really try and attend. Radio show scheduling and training

Hello all! My name's Ramy and I'm the Head of Programming this year. It's my job to train all the people new to radio, and to schedule the shows. If you guys want to a get a show there's a few steps you need to take: 1. Buy the membership! It's only £7 for the whole year and it's well worth it as you get access to the amazing facilities. 2. Email me once you've got the membership. I'll get back to you and let you know when your training session is. It will take less than an hour, and probably be in groups of 2 or 3 depending on how many people there are. 3. Once you've had your training session, I'll schedule you a regular slot, which is then yours. You have to schedule your show yourself though via icradio.com/members --> Oli the techie will give you username and password once you pay your membership. 4. Then you do your first show! I'll sit in with you if you guys want, it's a bit daunting the first time. (and after that too :D) So yeah that's everything. Also, apologies if I'm slow to reply this weekend, I get internet on Tuesday, so life will become much easier then. So email me if you've paid your membership and you want a show! Much love, Ramy

Hi, Thanks for signing up to the icradio mailing list- Imperial College's student radio station. It's always hard to have a proper chat with everyone at Fresher's Fair, to really explain the various things we do, so it's usually best to put it in an email. A little introduction First and foremost we are a student radio station; broadcasting online, 24 hours a day. We have a sustain service which plays out music from our massive library and people come in to do their own shows. Because we are student radio it is a lot more laidback than a commercial station. We have loads of different and varied shows; talk, dance, rock, pop, indie - anything goes. The important thing is to have fun and get to know more people at university. If you got to have a look around the station yesterday then you will have seen that we have awesome resources. IC RADIO has been running for well over 30 years now, meaning that the equipment and systems that we have are pretty unbeatable. Once you have joined the society the door is pretty much open for you to use our gear. Basically, if there isn't a show on then you can come in and have a practice on the decks etc in the studio - much cheaper and convenient than buying your own stuff and carting it to uni each year. Radio isn't the only thing that we do. We have a very well equipped recording studio which a team of us have spent the last 2-3years setting up. This can be used for recording and/or broadcasting live sessions on the air or doing more involved jobs (band demos/radio plays etc etc). We are pretty unique to have such a facility as a student radio and it is something that we're going to really push this year - if you saw any of the flyers yesterday (added as an attachment to this email) we have 12 sessions booked in the first 9 weeks of term. These sessions are open for anyone to turn up to and watch and are held in our "shared studio". Equally if you are interested in getting involved with the recording side then the best thing to do is email John, our Production Manager, production(a)icradio.com<mailto:production@icradio.com> A big part of being a radio station is of course the music that we play. We are constantly sent music from all the big labels which needs to be listened to, reviewed and eventually put into our play out system - Kate is our Head of Music and leads an army of avid music fans who task is just that. It is a big job and she needs as much help as possible, if it is something that you think you might be interested in then please get in contact with her at music(a)icradio.com<mailto:music@icradio.com> We're all at Imperial and so therefore geeks, at least on the inside. This might not be "cool", but it does mean that our technical side to the station is pretty damn good! As you can imagine there is a lot of upkeep and challenges associated with keeping a radio station running. We also do things like outside broadcasts from the annual Varsity (Imperial vs. the Medics in various sports over a big competition) which are fun and a good experience to be a part of. "So I'm interested in finding out more, what next?" We are going to have our first social event from 7PM on Thursday 14th October, our annual "Beer and Biscuits" night. This is a meet and greet where you can come along and have a chat to our committee and ask us any questions that you have. It's basically our own version of Fresher's Fair, just a little bit less hectic and with lots more free beer! (and other drinks) The event will be held in the Level 8 Physics Common Room in the Blackett Building, a really cool venue with a roof terrace and great views over South Ken (map included as attachment). Make sure that you come along if you can. We are student radio, and so part of the "SRA" - Student Radio Association. On Wednesday 13th October we have the annual SRA Nominations Party where we find out if we have got through to the final SRA Awards in any category. This is another great chance to come along and meet our committee, especially if you are new to London and haven't been to the east part yet. It is a guest list event but if you click attending on the facebook link then you'll be put on it automatically. I randomly signed up in my first year with absolutely no experience or clue of how anything works, because I thought that DJs were cool and I wanted to be one - 4 years later and I'm here as station manager for the second time in a row. What I'm trying to say is that university is the best chance you'll ever have to pick up something new, so why not try radio! Important Changes to the Lineup

Just to warn pre-existing show owners, we will be removing the current schedule within the next two days and starting anew. If you would like a show this year (starting from Week 2 onwards) you will need to get in touch with our new Head of Programming, Ramy Kozman. But don't do it yet! When Ramy is ready to start filling the lineup then he will let everybody know via email. Ramy should be set up and ready to go sometime around the middle of Week 1 so check your inbox around then. In the meantime, any eager-beavers who would like a show during Week 1 (Oct 4th -->) then please contact myself (oliver.wilkie09(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:oliver.wilkie09@imperial.ac.uk>) and I will set that up for you.
