Hi guys, I'll try and keep this brief... Wednesday, for me, was one of those real turning points. It cemented how far we've come in the past year and just what potential there is for us. It wasn't so much the event that got me but more the response from you lot - needless to say I feel like I've got the support of you all which is more important than anything. I hope that you all not only learned stuff, but also had a good time. *ANYWAY* Moving forward. The RCSU have asked us to provide some music tonight. I've had a fair few people asking to DJ but its not too late if you want to play some records. The original idea was for some big elaborate MUSIC TECH VS. IC RADIO thing....... I don't think it'll be as organised as that however....;) Thanks Dan

The Masterclass, 1.30pm, 9/12/09

Hey, IC Radio have spammed your inboxes in the last twenty four hours – let me assure you of two things. 1) that this will be the last in a while and 2) I'll keep it as short and assertive as possible. This is a final reminder about THE RADIO MASTERCLASS. It’s tomorrow in the IC Radio studios from 1.30pm. I would urge as many of you as possible to come down to meet the radio family and get some hardcore tips from the radio industry finest. DEMO FACTOR: We now have five participants (Dan F, Katie, Roushan, Ramy, Andy). I think one or two more places left for so email me ASAP if you want to get in. You need to create a 3 min demo and bring it in on a clearly labelled CD. It will be an opportunity for everyone, even those not taking part, to get some tips on making a quality demo. Questions? Shows and Playlists - important changes

Hi all, FIRST OFF - make sure you come to our Christmas Dinner tomorrow evening (heading to Brick Lane... leaving from the station at 6pm! then out somewhere afterwards)! SECOND OFF - make sure you attend the Radio Workshop on Wednesday (some BIG people in radio are visiting IC Radio at 2pm... MAKE SURE you're there (shared studio, labelled the 'Aquarium') if you're interested in maybe becoming a radio professional later on)! Next, the less interesting but important stuff - if you have a show please read this carefully or you'll end up with your shows not being scheduled or recorded. Basically... You need a Members Area account for icradio.com/members - anyone who has bought IC Radio Membership can get one. If you don't have one or don't know the details, send me an email and I'll help set you up. You need to use your Members Area account to submit playlists. We're obliged to submit our playlists to all sorts of places, I'm not even sure where, but we get into trouble if we don't. Please submit all playlists using the Show Playlists module within 48 hours of your show ending - this applies to all shows that play any kind of music. Please don't email your playlists to Lia at the headofmusic address. Fail to comply and, well, there are posters all around the station that tell you what will happen... Ignore the ones about fat cats getting tortured, pay attention to the ones about you becoming "spoken word douche" :P Please opt out of shows you can't make in advance - it's pointless us keeping recordings of sustain so use the Show Opt Out module before your show starts to cancel the recording. If you don't manage to do this, please send me an email to let me know and I'll delete the recordings. It will soon be your responsibility to schedule your show, not Andy's to copy it over week to week! If you have a show, I'll be in touch you soon to assign you a 'slot', which you will need to log in and use the Show Request module to schedule shows with each week. This means that we don't end up scheduling shows you can't make, and means that you can schedule your own shows without needing to get in touch with us in a panic 5 minutes before you're due to go on air! A few shows already have this setup - if Show Request shows up nothing for you, I'll be in touch with details soon. It will soon be possible for you to schedule your own shows, whenever the studio is free - if you see the studio is free during the day and there is no slot set up for that time, you'll be able to schedule your own one-off show and go on air straightaway without needing to ask one of us for a show. Keep an eye out for new options in the Show Request module, which should appear sometime before Christmas ready for next term. Christmas meal, Radio Workshop and Christmas party

Hi, Just a quick reminder to everyone. We will be having our annual Christmas meal tomorrow night in the form of a "Christmas Curry" The plan is to meet at radio for 6PM, to move to Aldgate east tube station for 7PM - come to whichever one is easiest. If you can't make it then but are free later on I'm sure we'll go going for some drinks afterwards. The following day, this Wednesday, we are having a big afternoon of radio! Several people who work in the industry and really know their stuff will be coming down to our studio to give master-classes, answer questions and give tips on how to improve our shows. As well as the technical/promotions there will be a bit of careers stuff, but I've asked them to angle this towards us (as in people who aren't nessessarily primarily aimed towards the radio industry but are interested to find out what opportunities there are). It should be a really good afternoon! We're going to be meeting from 1PM - email ra708(a)ic.ac.uk if you think you'll be able to come or want more information. FINALLY This Friday (11th) we're helping out with the RCSU Christmas Carnival. Basically they want us to do the music so I was thinking of putting on a sort-of IC RADIO vs. MUSIC TECH battle of the DJs.If you're interested in playing a little set (30mins) then get in touch! IC Radio Event 9/12/09

Hello Radio Lovers, You will all have got an email from Dan this week regarding an exclusive IC Radio event that is happening next Wednesday 9th December, in the studios, from 2pm. The afternoon will be full of talks, activities and question and answers regarding radio. In this email we go into more details on: 1) Who is coming 2) Having your demo critiqued by industry professionals 3) Confirming your attendance 1) The visit will be led by CHRIS NORTH, who is the head talent agent at Wise Buddah – the company that looks after pretty much every big name in radio. Radio 1 and Heart DJ VICKY BLIGHT will be there as well as some people who work behind the scenes at 6 MUSIC (subject to alterations). 2) The afternoon will consist of talks etc which should be insightful, however the part of the afternoon that I would actively encourage you to take part in is “DEMO FACTOR”. For the first time at IC Radio we will give you the chance to have your work heard by radio professionals, giving you tips and feedback on your work. Making a demo is EASY. You can download your shows from the “members area” (email technical(a)icradio.com to get a log in sorted if you haven’t already – although it will be first come first serve and I can’t promise everyone will have a log in by Wednesday as Chris is v v busy). Once you download your show, simply cut out the music using free to download software, like Audacity and then pop it on a CD and bring it a long. Even if it’s not your best work/it’s a recording of your latest show, bring it anyway! 3) We’re just trying to get an estimate of numbers, if you would like to attend please email me back (ra708(a)ic.ac.uk) , mention “Demo Factor” in your email if you would like to be considered for that part of the afternoon. Places are limited so we’re working on first come first serve basis. Dan may even get us some free drinks, who knows. Would be really good to see as many of you down as possible.
