Dear All,

The GridPP DIRAC instance is due for another upgrade (from v7r1p45 to v7r2p28) as the current version is only supported in big-fix-only mode.
This is currently scheduled for Monday 13/12/21, starting around 10 am.

How will this affect you:
- Possibly not at all: As far as we can tell this release is backwards compatible, but we can't guarantee that we tested your exact use case. We recommend upgrading at your leisure.
- If you are using the cvmfs UI, this will be upgraded a day or two after the upgrade (once we are sure it has worked). The default UI will remain in python 2 for the foreseeable future (see below).
- Jobs: We *hope* to do the upgrade so it will not affect any jobs currently in the system, but there is a risk we will lose some. So if you have any results you care about, it'll be worth collecting them on Monday morning.

What's new:
- You will be able to submit to the GridPP DIRAC instance using a python3 API.
We will supply instructions for this on the GridPP DIRAC Wiki:
https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/Quick_Guide_to_Dirac
(Once we are confident this works, we will try and make it available via cvmfs, but this is not a priority item.)
- If you are submitting multi-core jobs, please note that the syntax has changed. The new syntax is:
NumberOfProcessors = 8;
(The old syntax was: Tags = {"8Processors"};)
If you are trying to submit jobs with more than 8 cores, please let Simon and me know - the internal workings of DIRAC have changed and the old 'let the user submit anything they like and let the sites sort it out' maxime is no longer true.

Regards,
Daniela
