Dear All,
Up until now, we have assumed that if a user didn't specify an operating
system version (Platform in DIRAC speak), that they would require a version
of EL7 as variations on this operating system were the default at all sites
for years. EL7 has reached end of life at the end of June and most sites
have now switched to either Rocky or Alma 9 (grouped under EL9 for
convenience).
On the other hand, most experiments now containerize their workflows,
making the underlying operating system less important. (If you need some
help to containerize your workflow we might be able to point you in the
right direction, but we aren't experts in experimental software.)
>From Monday the 24th of June, we will not set a default operating system in
DIRAC any longer.
If for any reason you do need to set the operating system that your jobs
require, please follow the instructions given here:

Regards,
Daniela
