Dear all, The Firedrake dynamical core is currently un-named and we have just been referring to the project as dcore. I have now come up with a plausible name, Gusto. If nobody has a better suggestion in the next 7 days, I'll rename the project to Gusto and start to make a project site under firedrakeproject.org . Warning: I share David's dislike of acronyms but not his tendency towards nerdy D&D-type mythical creatures. cheers --cjc -- http://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/colin.cotter www.cambridge.org/9781107663916
Hi Colin, How about: Eris Initially I thought Aeris since it is the latin for atmosphere (which sadly is taken by some weather API) but Eris would be pronounced exactly the same and it is the name of a rather exciting dwarf planet: “Eris (minor-planet designation<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor-planet_designation> 136199 Eris) is the most massive and second-largest dwarf planet<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf_planet>[g]<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eris_(dwarf_planet)#cite_note-footnoteI-22> known in the Solar System<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_System>. It is also the ninth-most-massive known body directly orbiting the Sun<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun>,[g]<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eris_(dwarf_planet)#cite_note-footnoteI-22> and the largest known body in the Solar System not visited by a spacecraft.” Hope this helps :) —Doru On 8 Apr 2016, at 17:21, Colin Cotter <colin.cotter@imperial.ac.uk<mailto:colin.cotter@imperial.ac.uk>> wrote: Dear all, The Firedrake dynamical core is currently un-named and we have just been referring to the project as dcore.
