FWIW, I created a pull request that improves FIAT and removes almost all of ScientificPython, cf. < https://bitbucket.org/fenics-project/fiat/pull-request/2/remove-almost-all-o...
. If this gets reviewed (and possibly improved) soon, we might get to Python3-ready FEniCS quiet quick.
