[FILM-Users 00891] FW: Support sustainable investment at Imperial College
FYI From: Weinert, Maria Sent: 30 January 2020 10:00 To: Bruckbauer, Andreas <a.bruckbauer@imperial.ac.uk> Cc: Hoekstra, Marieke M B <m.hoekstra@imperial.ac.uk> Subject: Support sustainable investment at Imperial College Dear Andreas Would you be able to distribute the below message to your FILM user list. The deadline is tomorrow and we need to reach as many college members as possible across departments/faculties before that. Best wishes Maria (Film user at Hammersmith Hospital Campus) Dear Colleagues, Imperial College has almost 500m GBP it invests. Every 5 years, these investments are reviewed, and a new strategy is set-out. We can influence how the investment strategies are made by sending proposals to the Socially Responsible Investment Policy Working Group at Imperial (https://www.imperial.ac.uk/about/leadership-and-strategy/college-endowment/p...) until the 31st of January. It is suspected that Imperial College has invested in non-ethical (tobacco, weapon industry) and climate-crisis promoting companies, e.g. fossil fuel. Therefore, we have launched a petition to: i) Ask Imperial College to be transparent about its investment strategy ii) Encourage divesting from fossil fuel investments, as well from the weapon and tobacco industry You can sign the petition following this link: https://forms.gle/TvyHZwQjLT9CB6Ex8 We will not use your name for anything else than in support of the statement you’ll find at the petition. For this petition to become a success in <48hrs, we need your Imperial network! Please, disseminate this message to your co-workers, students, or other staff, and if you can, on another campus to enhance visibility in all departments. Please note that this petition is supporting the same issues raised earlier by Imperial Divest (https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/campaigns/divest-imperial-0). Thanks a lot for your help! Sincerely, Joe Sheppard, Marieke Hoekstra, Leire Melgosa
