Dear FILM-users Zeiss offered us an on-site demo of their Cell Discover 7 microscope on April 6th – 8th at South Kensington. This is a high-end widefield system which also has a LSM 900 confocal unit with Airyscan2 (super-resolution, or live cell imaging). https://www.zeiss.com/microscopy/int/products/imaging-systems/celldiscoverer... It should also allow automated workflows like overview imaging in widefield mode, locating objects of interest in x,y and z, followed by confocal imaging of these objects. The reason why we are interested in this is that they claim it is possible to image organoids at high resolution and in an automated workflow with this instrument. While there are limitations doing this with confocal microscopy and I would think this would be better done on a special light-sheet microscope, this demo could give us some answers. The positive aspect is that this is an all-in one box microscope, so it should be suitable for containment-level work (but not during the demo). I will also work for other samples like cells on coverslips, in dishes or on plates. Please let me know if you want to have your samples imaged during the demo which will take place in the SAF building at South Kensington. The time is limited (only 2.5 days) and will it takes 2 days to set up the microscope and ½ day to pack up.
