The background:The project is about combining mouse and mathematical models to study and identify new signalling pathways in endothelial cells covering an atherosclerotic plaque. The identified networks are synthesized in primary cells to study their reaction to flow. The high resolution 3-D lumen-vessel wall reconstruction, derived from imaging on FILM microscopes, is used for computational fluid dynamics. Features of the resulting stress/strain and/or protein distributions are used to identify regions of interest on digitally-derived cross sections. In line with our FILM Club series, another exciting talk showing how to get much more out of our microscopes than just images.
