[FILM-Users 00804] CF5 retirement
Dear FILM users, After more than 11 years of active use, our CF5 confocal microscope (Zeiss LSM 510) will be retired on June 15th (last day). While the current users have already been informed, I thought I let the wider user base know. We are getting a new Leica SP8 with higher sensitivity, more laser lines and a motorized stage. Part of the purchase agreement is that the old microscope will be taken away by Leica. The reason behind this decision is that Zeiss will no longer offer service contracts for the LSM510 and the new microscope has better performance. We hope that we get the SP8 up and running quickly, but have to make sure that everything is in place, I will keep you informed. The operation of the microscope should be quite similar to the current Leica SP5s (CF2, CF3, CF4). Best wishes Andreas ---------------------------------------------------- Dr Andreas Bruckbauer FILM facility manager Sir Alexander Fleming Building South Kensington Campus Imperial College London Exhibition Road London, SW7 2AZ SAF 4th floor, open space desk 401 +44 (0)20 7594 2023 a.bruckbauer@imperial.ac.uk<mailto:a.bruckbauer@imperial.ac.uk> http://www.imperial.ac.uk/medicine/facility-for-imaging-by-light-microscopy/ ----------------------------------------------------
