[FILM-Users 00176] food in microscope rooms
Dear microscopists, it seems it's necessary again to remind everybody that eating and drinking is NOT allowed in any FILM microscope room! Recently it happened more often again that coffee cups and coke cans appeared in the rooms. All our microscopes are lab space, and harmful chemicals (fixatives, nuclear stainings, oncogene transfections, ...) are regularly used in sample preparation. As in any lab, traces of them will accumulate on the microscopes, computer keyboards etc. There is a real reason for the rule; plus, it can get us into serious troubles with the health and safety inspectors. This should also remind you of obvious lab behaviour, that it's a good idea to wash your hands after leaving the rooms, and that it's not a good idea to bite your nails either, no matter how exciting (or frustrating) the experiment. Thanks for your cooperation, good imaging, Martin -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Martin Spitaler, PhD* *FILM - Facility for Imaging by Light Microscopy* - Facility Manager - Sir Alexander Fleming Building, desk 401 Imperial College London / South Kensington Exhibition Road London SW7 2AZ UK Tel. +44-(0)20-759-42023 E-mail m.spitaler@imperial.ac.uk <mailto:m.spitaler@imperial.ac.uk> Website: http://imperial.ac.uk/imagingfacility
