TODAY! (and mind the CHANGED LOCATION!): FRÄNZE PROGATZKY and HARRIET TAYLOR from Maggie Dallman's lab will tell you some FISH TALES - how zebrafish imaging can deliver very insights into areas outside embryo development, like immune biology and atherosclerosis. FRIDAY 27 APRIL 2012 at 1pm in ROOM G47A in the FLOWERS BUILDING (around the corner behind Biochemistry, or number 31 on the campus map <http://www.imperial.ac.uk/workspace/campusinfo/public/sthkencampus.pdf> ====================================================================== Dear microscopists, we are back with our FILM Club this month, and it's going to be very interesting again: FRÄNZE PROGATZKY and HARRIET TAYLOR from Maggie Dallman's lab will tell you some FISH TALES - how zebrafish imaging can deliver very insights into areas outside embryo development, like immune biology and atherosclerosis. Most people know that zebrafish (Danio rerio) has been used for a long time to study embryo development - also here in the facility, to study the vascularisation of the eye (Mariya Moosaje) or skeletal muscle (Christina Therapontos). But not everybody is aware of the fact that this small, transparent organism is also excellent to study a whole range of other things - what other organism allows you for example to observe single cells move around the whole body, or the deposition of cholesterol in real time? The FILM Club will take place on FRIDAY 27 APRIL 2012 at 1pm in ROOM G47A in the FLOWERS BUILDING (different location this time!!!). Don't miss out. And a pre-announcement: As in previous years, on the last Friday of June we will the FILM MICROSCOPY DAY 2012 - this year with a special twist: We will have a Microscopy Match Maker session, where all of our users are invited to give a 2-minute snapshot of their work. This will be followed by a poster session over lunch, to invite discussions and new collaborations. All FILM users (or other microscopists) are encouraged to participate - supervisors, ask your students and postdocs to do so, this is a unique networking opportunity! A preliminary programme is on the FILM website under NEWS (an update will follow soon) <http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/portal/page/portallive/imagingfacility/news> Good imaging, Martin ================================== -- Martin Spitaler, PhD FILM - Facility for Imaging by Light Microscopy - Facility Manager - Sir Alexander Fleming Building, desk 401 Imperial College London / South Kensington Exhibition Road London SW7 2AZ UK Tel. +44-(0)20-759-42023 E-mail m.spitaler@imperial.ac.uk Website: http://imperial.ac.uk/imagingfacility
